My “slightly older” circular saw.

My 1971? Sears Craftsman Circular Saw. It was used by my grandfather to finish several basements and built multiple sheds. It was then used by my other grandfather to build another shed. It is heavy, but very robust. It’s got decent speed and good torque, and it is so durable that it chipped a concrete floor when I dropped it once. I don’t know how exactly to pinpoint the model year, although I know it is late 1960s-early 1970s. The serial number is 5426. It spins rather slow at 5800 rpm, but is pretty powerful. interesting how it takes 7 inch blades. I wonder which company made this one? Stanley? It lacks a brake and therefore takes forever to spool down. I still have the original booklet, listing all the parts for repair! Before planned obsolescence.

Free 3ah advanced battery(with the new tabless cell technology) trade in event

*****I’ll start by saying I could be slightly off on remembering the details as I read it a few hours ago, but they are all in the page***** Not sure how this sub is about links and such but just search “craftsman battery trade in event” in safari/google to see when the Lowe’s stores closest to you are doing it! You get a free 3ah advanced battery a charger as well as a 50 dollar credit towards any craftsman 20v set or tools. It’s all there on the main page. Any cordless, removable tool battery from any brand. Some restrictions apply but not sue in exact details. Dates are from may 1st- July 31st. Hopefully you’re not in or close to Indiana or Ohio like me and are sol pretty much unless you travel 😩. I only have 1 v20 tool(framing nailer) so I’m not sure how I’d even benefit from this battery kit but I’m still going to grab it for sure! The incentive is to get people into the platform obviously which is why you also get 50 bucks towards craftsman cordless stuff. I think it’s very cool that they’re doing this and wish more tool company’s would do stuff like this more often! Flex makes superb tools and if they would have done something like this maybe the would have gained more attraction.

Warranty claims on discontinued items.

Does anyone know how Craftsman handles warranties on items that have been discontinued? I have this max axess socket set that I love using, but it kills me that my 18mm is split. I've tried reaching out to them through the portal on their website but havent received a response yet. I've found an 18mm for this set on ebay but its like $20+ after taxes and shipping so im hoping they keep some kind of replacements in stock.

Through looking for a replacement I learned these sets are kindof expensive now. Apparently Craftsman got sued over this design and had to discontinue them. If anyone knows of an exact replacement from a different brand shoot me a link please.

r/Craftsman Cool Upgrade Thursday: how did you "upgrade" your Craftsman stuff?

This weekly thread is for you to brag about how you improved or upgraded your Craftsman brand tools, accessories, and other gear.

  • Did you 3D print some custom bins or attachments for your tool storage system or powertool?

  • Did you make some custom gear or clothing, or "do a thing" with the Craftsman brand as a focus?

  • Did you change a vehicle to accomodate your tools and accessories?

  • Did you make a custom wall holder/foam cutout for your Craftsman stuff?

  • Did you do anything else to take your overall Craftsman experience from "mild" to "wild"?

Talk about it, here! Pictures of the upgrade are a plus!

New box. Craftsman 3 drawer portable

Grabbed this last Saturday. It’s Mostly set up now but I still need to find some wrench organizers that’ll fit in it.

Where I live now I do t have a garage or a car port so my big box is in the bedroom. This is so I can pack all of the shit I know I’m gonna use outside at once.

Inflator (CMCE520B) Sale at Lowes - $49

The compact inflator is the cheapest it's been in over a year, at Lowes.

I didn't buy this when it was on sale last October. It looks like it will be on sale until June now, or until it is OOS.

Based on the other Deal Alert for the very small portable inflator, it looks like it's sale season for Craftsman inflators

Latest haul, anyone know the year? 60’s maybe?

It was $15. Thinking it needs to be gold with red accents.

A few google searches said it can be identified on part of the locks but how true it isn im not sure. Also if you know how to fix a slide that doesnt stay connected on one side if appreciate the help. Thank you lady's and gentlemen

Any pivoting heads for Craftsman V20 cordless trimmer?

I feel like I go through line so quick running up against wood and cement and I see these pivoting heads but only for gas trimmers.

Should I return my cordless brad nailer?

I have the 18 gauge cordless Brad nailer for installing baseboards. I’ve been running into some issues using it that I don’t think are user error.

  1. I’ll have the nailer flush with board, with the deepest setting and I am getting nails that stick out. This seems to occur randomly.

  2. It seems like every 3 or 4 nails, it triggers the jam mechanism and the light flashes. I go through the reset procedure and it works again. Haven’t had a real jam yet and battery charge was fine.

I think I got a defective one but there could be user error I am missing. Would you return this or is there some additional troubleshooting that has resolved this? Or is this just expected with the cordless nailer?

Gooseneck Worklight

I bought a used SEARS Craftsman 12” drill press model 315.219140. I’m quite happy with this find. The only thing that doesn’t work is the LED work light Part #089140301045.

I was wondering if anyone with this drill press, or something similar, has found a solution to a burnt out light. The part isn’t available anymore, I’m wondering if there’s a third party option.

I’m welcome to any ideas and solutions.

It’s not really a big deal if it never works again as I’m doubtful I use the light much anyway, but if I can fix it I will. Otherwise, I might look at removing it entirely and plugging the hole to get it out of the way.
