Steve Wozniak Speech at Mines
Was doing a deep dive on the history of Apple and found this. Figured I'd share it for those who may be curious.
What is up with the Rampant cheating here?
I’m sure a lot more cheating on exams goes on here that we just don’t know about. But dang.
People better not cheat on the Physics 1 final, the professors were not happy to say the least. They are so generous to give you guys an exam replacement to help you pass too.
Guys there’s a massive difference between Guessing and Cheating
Be a pro like me and guess correctly on the multiple choices. You also get to leave really early.
Sad day to all the people who have FRQs as their final.
Physics 2 Final already out
It was surprisingly easy, and I guessed on a lot of it getting a 70 on it lol.
I can proudly say I didn’t learn anything in this class with the 10 mcqs quizzes they did.
Thanks Statics and Physics 2 for the easy semester guessing :)
No moment of Inertia using integral was crazy on statics.
That was a hyped up topics on the lists btw with 30+ topics.
2 Truss using section and zero force member select all that applies
3 Hydrostatics
2 Mohr Circle one draw given Ix > Iy and find the Radius.
1 Parallel Axis Theorem of a I Beam.
Multi and two force members.
4 one question of Shear, V-M diagram, Normal force calculation, and a Moment calculation at A.
2 3D moments
1 2D Moments
And a Few Rigid body 2D.
I guessed on most of them—but I could fail this exam and still pass. The fact they lied was insane to me
It’s Over Today for me in Statics
It’s been a great run yall. 4th time this semester failing their exams. I don’t even think guessing will save me. Three days before the exam I realized how over it is.
In fact I’m guessing on everything and calling it because I need at least a 75+ on this final.
Thank you Reddit 🫶
Incoming Freshman Summer Prep?
I see many people say that Mines is difficult. I want to make some preparations during the summer. What are the textbooks for math and physics? Is it necessary to buy it to review in advance?
Or if you can go back to the summer vacation before entering college, what is the most necessary thing to do?
Hey Y'all, happy spring 🍃. I'm writing a thesis comparing food attitudes with social media habits and looking for data in the field in the form of this survey. It would be so helpful if any of you reading have a minute and would be able to fill it out! 🙏 Many thanks and All responses much obliged 🫡🫡🫡
Oh and happy to post back here with the results once data collection is complete
Can all the TA’s give me the answers to the final tomorrow?
I need to pass. Thank you verdy much.
Please, stop submitting hard copies of assignments in cursive. More than that, never combine cursive and pencil.
I can only grade what I can perceive, and half-assed cursive with made up connecting features makes it really difficult to understand what’s on the paper.
If I can read what you’re writing, you’ll always get the benefit of the doubt.
ETA: if you have nice handwriting, this does not apply to you. If one day you just woke up feeling whimsical and decided to give cursive a try, this absolutely applies to you.
Son is interested, can someone explain admissions?
My son is interested in applying here but wanted to know if the admissions is relatively straightforward and based on grades.
I looked at the profile of admitted and they're pretty impressive and lines up well with CU Boulder's engineering cohort. But I was wondering if Mines is considered more fair than CU in this regard. The school counsellor said that last year the admit rate for Boulder freshmen engineering dropped to 60% and the admitted profile is 3.97 - 4.42 (weighted) while Mines is 3.83 - 4.00 (unweighted). She did state that Boulder's engineering school looks at the SAT math (>700) even though they are test optional.
He has a 4.1 weighted and is active in sports and will be taking the AP exams next week. Just wondering how that performance on AP Calculus AB will be seen by admissions folks.
canvas hacked
ummmm wat do u guys think will happen to our finals if the ransom doesnt get paid or if instructure doesnt clutch on getting their systems back
edit- at least course evals arent harassing me anymore lolz
The day Physics, Statics, or other Engineering classes make FRQs worth more 50% of the grade is the day I fail these classes.
I swear I’m scraping by these classes my getting lucky and guessing correctly on most of the multiple choices.
I got lucky that this semester Physics 2 transitioned into 10 multiple choices.
Does anyone know that Mechanics of Materials will be mainly Multiple Choice questions?
Anyone else feel like the difficulty of this school is over-exaggerated?
I am not trying to suggest you can do well here with no effort, but the amount of horror stories I heard before coming here is insane. I was really shaking in my boots the few weeks leading up to classes. In my experience, if you actually show up to class and do the homework then you’re already well on the path to success.
Thoughts?
Mechanical engineering major with explosives minor?
How doable is this? I already work for the government, so being put on a watchlist is redundant.
That's a joke based on a several year old post asking this same question^
At least in physics there were free iclicker questions, not statics though.
I don't think I have taken a class that has done that. Maybe this is why I like frqs better because there's partial credit.
Trust me it’s not us who leaked it; professors would never give the exam materials to the TAs.
