Williamsburg for someone afraid of bugs?

Hi all. I got a job in Williamsburg and am thinking of taking it, but I have a pretty bad mosquito allergy, biting midges love me, and I'm irrationally afraid of Palmetto bugs.

Just wondering how bad Williamsburg really is in this regard.

For what it's worth, I have my eye on a third floor apartment at Governor's on North Henry, which is a pretty new, modern apartment building in the heart of CW. My job isn't at CW but I would want to spend a decent amount of time there, walking around, going to coffee shops, soaking up the atmosphere.

I've only ever visited in late fall and winter, so I'm worried about spring, summer, and early fall.

I realize this probably sounds ridiculous to most people but having to constantly watch out for insects that will bite me (no matter what type of bug spray I wear) or having to wake up to see a Palmetto bug on my apartment wall...I'm just not thrilled with the idea if it's frequent and year-round.

Me, my wife and our two boys (10 & 15) are planning a trip from Iowa in July. We should be there the evening of the 6th. Now I know July can be hot and humid then but that is when we could both get vacation time. Questions; how will the park be for seeing the buildings/trades and interpreters? Will it be busy with visitors so close to the USAs 250th celebration? Also, any Tips or suggestions for a few days visit?
