Canker or Cold sore? Pls help.

Hello all,

Can someone identify if this is a canker or cold sore? I got swabbed for it yesterday so hopefully it’s just a canker sore. I had went to my dermatologist (mind you she’s misdiagnosed me before) and she had said it was cold sore without properly testing it …so I went to patient first and the doctor said it looked like a canker sore but I still wanted to get it swabbed for confirmation. She herself told me she gets cold sores and explained where they form and how they looked but your girl needs that confirmation. I have to wait a few days for the results to come back and I’ve been losing my mind for 2 days. I pray it isn’t a cold sore. It doesn’t itch, burn, or tingle. However, I do feel a little pain when I rub my lips together when applying carmex and when I eat.

Please has anyone had this before???

Repeated cold sores

Hello! I have been getting cold sores for as long as I remember as a kid so actually getting them is not the issue. However in the past month, I have gotten 3 outbreaks where I will have just healed from one then maybe 2 days later I feel another one pop up. I have been under more than normal stress recently which I know can cause a break out but in my entire life I have maybe gotten 3-4 per year max, and for the past few years I have only gotten 1 a year. My partner (understandably) doesn’t feel comfortable sharing food or drinks, or kissing right now until we figure out why I’ve been getting them in such rapid succession. I have a Valacyclovir prescription that I take whenever I feel it coming on, and I put topical ointments on too. I guess I was just looking for advice on what more I can do and if anybody might know why it’s coming up more frequently, or if anybody has had a similar experience. Thanks:)

Is this a cold sore? Never had one before

Woke up feeling like I had bitten the crap out of my lip in my sleep, burning and raw feeling. Looked in the mirror to see it was red and swollen near the middle of my top lip. The inside is also red and swollen (why that side of my top lip is drooping down when I smile)

Pics are from about 12 hours after I noticed it this morning. I’ve never had a cold sore before so I’m unsure if this is the beginning stages of one or not. I also do not own any treatments but am planning to get some first thing in the morning.

For now, I put aquafor on that spot with a clean q-tip and used the other clean side to put it on the rest of my lips (trying not to rub it on the spot then all over…is that correct?)
