I stumbled on this weird little gem this evening at 9:30 pm and had to watch it! Work night and all! Lol!
Ralph is a nerdy, 400-year-old vampire who still lives with his mom—and he’s been stuck in the same tragic loop for centuries. Ever since his beloved Mona was murdered in the 17th century by her jealous pirate ex when they tried to run away together, she’s been doomed to reincarnate… only to be hunted down again. Every 22 years, on Friday the 13th, Ralph finds her—only to face a peg-legged pirate determined to kill her all over again. This time, though, the stakes feel higher than ever. If Ralph fails, he might lose Mona for good this time. But hey—maybe the 15th time’s the charm!
This movie is ridiculously cute in a very 90s way. The tone is playful, colorful, and just a little chaotic, with that offbeat humor that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. It leans into its silliness, and that’s exactly what makes it work. The whole vibe feels like a mix of quirky rom-com and supernatural comedy, wrapped in neon charm.
One of the standout things is the music, which was clearly made specifically for the movie—and you can tell. It’s not just background filler; the songs are woven into the story and add to the personality. They’ve got that catchy, slightly campy, synth-heavy feel that screams early ‘90s, and honestly, they’re a big part of why the movie sticks with you.
Is it perfect? Not really. It’s definitely cheesy and a little all over the place at times—but if you’re in the mood for something light, nostalgic, and genuinely unique, it’s a fun watch. It feels like a time capsule of a very specific era of filmmaking that doesn’t really exist anymore.
Overall: adorably weird, musically quirky, and peak 90s cute.
