There's a massive visa mastercard atm lawsuit settlement!

There's a huge visa mastercard atm lawsuit settlement working through the courts right now and almost nobody I know has heard of it even though most of us probably qualify.

Quick version of the case, visa and mastercard just agreed to pay $167.5 million to settle claims that their network rules blocked independent atm operators from offering lower surcharge fees, which meant consumers paid higher fees at out-of-network atms than they otherwise would have. They deny wrongdoing, which is the standard line in these, but the settlement is moving forward through the federal court in DC.

Eligibility is wide. The class covers anyone who paid an unreimbursed atm access fee at an independent, non-bank atm using a visa or mastercard branded card from October 2007 forward, which depending on when final approval hits could be nearly two decades of coverage for regular atm users. If you've ever used an out-of-network atm at a gas station, a bar, a convenience store, you're probably in the class.

Important timing point because I've seen confusion on this already. Claim forms are not open yet. The settlement got preliminary approval in early 2026 and the official claim portal is expected to launch later this year once the final approval process progresses, what matters is being aware so you don't miss the window when it opens.

A few ways to stay on top of it. Classaction.org both list active settlements and usually post the claim portal link as soon as it opens. If you want this kind of claim flagged automatically based on the cards and accounts you've had, Settlemate pulls class action settlements tied to accounts and purchases you already had, so a case with the reach of the atm one should trigger a notification when it opens. You can also follow the federal docket directly if you're that type.

One scam warning since big cases always bring phishers out. Legitimate settlement claim forms never ask for full social security numbers upfront, usually last four and basic identifying info is all they need to match you to records, any site asking for a full SSN before showing you the claim form is a fake lookalike, close the tab and go to the official settlement administrator site.

apple class action lawsuit is still open and the per-device payout structure is worth understanding

the apple class action lawsuit involves siri recording conversations through accidental activation without user consent. covered period is 2014 to 2024 and the payout is up to $100 per eligible device, no proof required. what makes this one particularly broad is that it covers any siri-enabled device. iphone, ipad, apple watch, macbook, homepod. multiple devices during that ten-year window means multiple claims at $100 each.

the $95 million settlement fund has a fixed per-device cap rather than a pro-rata structure. your payout doesn't shrink if more people file. the concern is whether the fund holds out across all claimants rather than dilution. filing is free on the official claims site and takes about 10 minutes for the first device. additional devices go faster. you're just confirming device type and the approximate years you owned it.

Class Action Suggestion

Not sure if this is the right place, but I have a suggestion for a class action lawsuit. If I was fortunate enough to be a millionaire I would just do this myself but im not. I've noticed a rise in company's that are sneakily adding subscriptions to purchase. Carpe is a perfect example. I bought their product to try on tik tok and was asked to create an account. No where did it say that I was creating this account so that I could sign myself up for a subscription service for deodorant. From what I've seen this has happened to a lot of people and apparently the company is not forthcoming with returns even if you cancel and ask for a refund before the order ships. I don't know the law but there has got to be something about being obvious and transparent with customers about what they are purchasing. I also know that Carpe isn't the only company doing this. I've heard of companies like rugiet, blue chew, and various other companies doing this. So if there is someone out that that can make something happen I think this a cause worth fighting for.

Account Resticted

Update: my account was restricted this morning after calling several more times. I was able to link the virtual card to cashapp and add the money to my cashapp so I don’t have to wait several days for the banking withdrawal

I have been seeing all these ads for online casinos and wanted to try. I added $10 to myprize and somehow won $1,400 after back to back bonuses. I was ectatic to say the least. it said for fastest withdrawal use Skrill (I should have did my research but didn’) money deposits and I go to spend it using Skrill virtual card and they decline and restrict my account. I open a chat and call. they send me an email with 3 questions asking me what I’m using the app for. I immediately respon. rep tells me 48 hours. then sends me a email back saying “SEVERAL DAYS”. I am like heck no so I call back and the guy says oh no for your situation it should be unrestricted in less then 24 hours. I start researching and see all the people saying it’s been weeks or months and they haven’t gotten their money!! I’m like WTF!! I’m not waiting that long. It’s been 24 hours so I called every hour today, I made a claim on BBB, I emailed my states department of financial institutions and the US SEC, and I reached out to a lawyer about a class action lawsuit and have been recording every phone call to post to social media. Tomorrow I’m calling every 15 mins if my account isn’t unrestricted. if Skrill has restricted your account or never paid your money comment below so we can get paid for our pain and suffering!!

How to file a class action lawsuit

Filed enough of these claims myself at this point that I keep seeing the same questions come up about how to get one through, so figured I'd lay out how the filing process works in practice and where people tend to give up.

Eligibility is less complicated than people think for most cases. A lot of class action settlements are set up so the defendant's own records determine class membership, which means you're not usually proving anything, you're just confirming you belong. For some cases you need the claim ID they mailed you, for others you can look yourself up by name, email, or account number on the settlement administrator's site.

The filing itself is where friction shows up. Every settlement has its own administrator website with its own form. Most ask for basic identifying info, sometimes account or purchase info, occasionally proof but honestly the no-proof options let you self-attest and move on. Payment method matters, if given the option pick direct deposit or digital check over paper check because paper ones take longer and some people lose them before cashing. Filing multiple in one sitting helps because the admin sites use similar fields so you fall into a rhythm.

The part people miss most often is confirmation. Every claim has either an email from the administrator or a reference number you should save, the in-app confirmation on some apps is not the same thing as an administrator confirmation, it just means you tapped submit. Save the admin email, not the app screenshot.

On tooling, you can do all of this manually on the individual administrator sites but make sure its the official one, there are a LOT of people creating fake scam copies. If you're would like to do more of these, settlemate files class action lawsuit claims directly inside the app for the ones it supports, prints and mails physical forms when the settlement requires paper submission, and for claims that redirect to the administrator site it flags exactly what info to enter, which cuts out most of the grunt work of filing these manually.

None of this is THAT hard, its confusing at first, and finding the settlements its a pain in the ass but money is worth it imo.

Atm Settlement Payment Update

What can I do with this? They are trying to say my claim wasn't fully completed, but wouldn't I have received a email informing me that it wasn't complete? Even though when I contacted them a few months ago asking for an update, they said they have my claim and my claim is valid. I've been hearing and seeing posts about this happening to multiple others. Any thoughts on what to do?
