Is this over filtration DiY Sump Filtration for Oscar

Trying to build diy sump filtration out of an 85 litre container.

So far in the tank sponge filter and Fluval U3 and a big Pond airstone.

Planning to buil a diy sump filtration as seen on the image. Hahaha 🤣 is it overkill for an Oscar.

Siphoned water drain down on the bottom then pushes its way up the foam -> floss -> bio media then pump return back filtered water to the aquarium

Solo cichlid for ropefish tank?

I have a 60 gallon cube(I know it is a weird size) and I want a centerpiece fish for it with some color.

My first thought was a solo jewel cichlid. Would a jewel cichlid be peaceful if kept alone without anything cichlid-shaped to bother?

Maybe someone has a different idea? I am open to something unorthodox so long as it can live forever (or at least years) in the tank. I don't want anything super tiny like an apistograma either.

Convict cichlid never shows himself

Hi all. I’ve been keeping a male convict cichlid for the past 6 years, ever since he was a fry, and for as long as I can remember, he’s been paranoid to move about his tank. He’s been alone in the same 20 gal long his entire life, and is about 6 inches now. He spends his days hiding in the different pots I placed around the tank, and will only come out at night to grab his pellets.

Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior, and is there any way I can change it? I’ve heard this kind of hiding behavior is characteristic of African cichlids, but not Central American cichlids like the convict. Even if he’s not directly coming up to the glass like many cichlids do, I would at least like to see my fish out in the open. Recently, I’ve thought about trying to rehome him because the only thing that I imagine would get him more active is some stimuli, I feel like he’d be better off in a large community tank, which I can’t support myself. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks

Extra fish to a 42 gallon

What is a extra fish I can add to a 100x40x40cm 42gal with keyhole cichlid pair 15-20 kuhli loaches and a single female bristlenose pleco, I was think of maybe a school of celestial pearl danios but I am open for suggestions. I am running a fluval 207 with a hygger 957 in a moderate-heavily planted tank.

Firemouth help

1st image is before the firemouth. 2nd is how the tank looks after rearanging it with the 3 decorations.

I am having an issue with my firemouth cichlid keeping my parrot and acara on the right side of the tank.

I have tried rearranging a couple of times and he still keeps them in certain spkts of the tank.

He has nipped the parrotfish without causing injury and no fin damage. Trying to figure out whether to rehome or not.

I dont really have money for decorations. Tank is a 75g and the firemouth has been in it for atleast 2 weeks.

Thank you for saving my fish!

I just wanted to say thanks to the sub because I posted here about HITH in my Oscar’s a couple months ago and after following everyone’s advice (and my vet), I managed to save 4 out of my 5 Ocars.

Have marked NSFW for sick fish but at least it had a happy ending.

Before and after pic of my worst affected one before and after treatment/healing

In your guys opinion is a 75 gallon tank big enough for four Freshwater Angelfish, 8 Congo tetras, 10 glo skirt tetras and one bristlenose pleco? Are these fish a good choice for being housed together?

Female is paired with the other male in tank, but looks like this one is trying to woo her

I’m just curious about this behavior I’m seeing with my Thorichthys maculippinis group, the little female has spawned twice with the other male briefly seen at right, but it looks like this one is trying to get her attention, he’s been cleaning the rocks and plants in that area and shimmying at her all morning.

Usually getting in that pair’s space would provide a much bigger defensive reaction, but she’s only halfhearted chasing him and the male of the pair doesn’t seem to care at all. The tank was completely rearranged two days ago so everyone’s claimed territories did get disrupted.

Need some help sexing! Male or female?

Photos from the store. Looked healthy and was swimming actively, no clamped fins, etc.
