New Pacifica vs. Odyssey

Hi All,

I thought i'd make a post here to get some insight from Pacifica owners and experts.

I'm a dad of 2 under 2 currently and in the market for a Mini Van. I've watched many review videos and based on what I know i'm down to deciding between the Pacifica (either Select or Limited) vs. the Honda Odyssey (Sport L or Touring).

For context I live in Canada.

The main selling point for me on the Pacifica is that it has AWD which the Odyssey does not. I dont think this is a deal breaker because i always run winter tires and I have a model Y AWD so when it gets really bad we'll use that car. Having said that, AWD is really nice to have all things considered.

The Odyssey has the magic 2nd row seats and Vtec engine + I guess better track record of long term reliability.

Anyone have experience actually driving both of these vans and have any input on why they would choose one over the other?

I would be buying brand new.

Would you purchase 2018 Pacifica with a resolved P0303 error

I am in the process of purchasing a 2017 Pacifica. The dealer has maintenance records showing the van threw a P0303 error code, which was resolved by a new coil being installed. This happened only about 100 miles ago. With everything I’m reading about the head gasket issue, I’m not confident that this won’t come back. Has anyone had the P0303 code JUST be the ignition coil and not lead to blown gasket?

Road Trip anxiety

I have a newish Pacifica Hybrid (1 year old) and am going to be taking my first road trip this summer. What should I be on the lookout for regarding failure modes and not getting into real trouble.

We bought it since we were looking to get an EV and my wife wanted a mini-van. This was the only compromise vehicle out there.

Engine filter type

We have a 2018 hybrid. I can't find info anywhere for the specific type of engine filter suitable for the hybrid van.

We have always taken it to the dealership for oil change. But we recently found an auto shop where we can bring our own engine oil and filter and the labor cost is much more reasonable.

We live in Canada so looking for something we can get here.

TIA!!

Ever have the lower transmission line just blow off at the connector? Off i go to look for parts. Looked like the connector vibrated enough over time that it wore off at the barb and just slid out.
