"overheating" PSA
I bought a new miva va13 with a 14hp ducar and it ran great....until it was hot. It would sputter and loose power and eventually die. Let it cool off and it's fine.
Changed oil, hydraulic oil, etc. no change. Checked valve lash, at tight end of spec (.004 intake .006 exhaust), ok. searched around and found that it is common for people to put cooling fans in the engine compartment because they run hot. Ok, done. No change.
Installed engine oil temp gauge. It would start sputtering around 240f. Warm but not out of normal for that kind of engine.
Finally out of desperation set the valve lash to the loose end of spec (.006 intake .008 exhaust).
Just got done running it for 5 hours straight and ran great. Never made it more than 1 hour before. Loosen up your valves everyone!
