Ok, I am probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but just hear me out. I do not support this ship because it would completely ruin Karen Page’s character. It’s mainly about Karen becoming Dex’s new twisted “North Star” fixation.
Although, especially after DD: Born Again episode 6, their chemistry felt unexpectedly intense. It is one of those dynamics that clearly has potential, even if it is not meant to go anywhere canonically.
But… from a purely narrative perspective, imagine if Benjamin Poindexter started fixating on Karen as his “North Star” and slowly became obsessed with her (maybe in an unsettling way). That would actually be really interesting to explore. I know Karen isn’t as innocent as Julie to be a perfect North Star, but that is exactly why she works better. Her moral compass is not naive, she has killed to survive, but she does not justify or support killing as a solution. She has seen Dex at his worst, watched him kill people in front of her, Father Lantom, Foggy and been hunted by him. She sees exactly what he is and refuses to be afraid or bend in his presence. She is the one person who does not collapse around him and tries hold him accountable for all of those deaths.
And for someone like Poindexter, who is a cold-blooded killer with a broken moral compass and clearly needs external anchors, that kind of person would be hard not to fixate on. Not because she is pure, but because she represents a version of control he does not have. In a twisted way, he might even respect that about her. That she can cross the line when forced or matter of survival but does not live there and can resist it. And that could easily turn into this obsessive idea that being around her, or protecting her, keeps him from completely losing control.
I think part of it is just Karen’s energy as a character. She somehow ends up having this very specific kind of chemistry with unhinged, morally unstable men like Frank Castle and Dex. It is not romantic in a healthy sense at all, but it creates a really compelling tension on screen.
Again, this is not something I think should actually happen in the story. But the idea of a push and pull dynamic where it becomes increasingly obsessive, forbidden, and psychologically intense… that could have had a very dark, complex “what if” appeal.
Just a thought, nothing serious so please feel free to discuss and be respectful. Thank you for reading this! 😇
