I’m losing my mind. The motorcycle makes a metal on metal “kssssssssuksa” sound. It makes this noise 100% of the time in any gear and in neutral with the clutch in or the clutch out. Using a stethoscope I cannot locate the source. It’s coming from every part of the engine LOL. I’m serious that I cannot tell if the sound is coming from the heads or the crank or the transmission. I’m a home mechanic and so far I have replaced the primary chain, the clutch pack, and a bearing that was suspected between the inner and outer clutch assembly. Over on the other side of the engine I have replaced the oil pump and the oil pump drive gear. It’s a worm drive and I suspected it was the problem because the timing of this sound seems to be too slow to be a valve or rocker. Any considered guesses is appreciated. I’ll split the case if I have to but dang… I don’t want to. I know it’s a little haphazard to run the engine with the primary cover off but I was wondering if a kink in the primary chain was rubbing against the engine case. Well, no… that wasn’t it either. Help.
I have a stock exhaust that’s bent out of shape, i plan to give bending it back into place a shot but I’m wondering if there are any aftermarket ones I should give a shot. Any ideas? Not asking for mechanical advice, just if anyone knows of any good aftermarket exhausts.
I’m looking at a 2008 Ulysses with ~ 40k miles. Looks like it’s in good shape but it’s been sitting for 2 years.
What’s the part situation like? How reliable are the xb12 engines?
I built up a 06 sportster engine already so I know the ins and outs of the evo engines but I know xb12 engines have differences.
Running great. Swapped the CV for a mikuni HSR-42, much better throttle response.
Anyone have a source for a lower belt guard?
I have a 1974 Honda CB360T as a fun little around town bike. And a 2024 Kawasaki Z500 that was my learning bike. I’m starting to get tired of the Z500 and looking for something with more character and speed.
I see a lot of Buell XB9s and XB12s in the $4-$6K range. Significantly cheaper than most Japanese 600 cc bikes and the Buell generally have significantly less miles. I know the Buell have some electrical issues and gremlins. But I love Eric Buell’s story, and I think the bikes are so unique and cool, albeit kind of funky looking.
My main question is what are the differences between the XB9 and the XB12? And which should I buy or another Buell?
Took a damn minute to get it out, keep everything organized, I squeezed in a new fuel pump install too (just about the easiest time to do it). Now I just have to swap over exhaust and intake and blah blah blah
It looks so naked with out its guts lol
I've been keeping a list of what order I've taken things apart and the matching nuts/bolt in their magnet trays. Not fall for that old trick of "I'll remember"
Not too bad for a rattle can job at 8pm in my shed 😂🤷🏼♂️ bike was in awful condition before hand. Next up polishing the exhaust and swapping out my Drummer for DND
What do you guys think? It needs some love, but I'm up for a challenge. Blacked out the contact cause I'm greedy ;)
Hello I can’t find this header for a Buell xb12 2010
I find this on TikTok but the owner don’t speak
Looking to get a set of bars for my xb12s. Currently I'm looking at the renthal ultra lows as I have them on another bike and they're quite nice. I'd be interested to see what everyone's running and if there's a common suggestion. Photos would also be much appreciated. Cheers everyone.
