Roy Jones Jr. is an all time great but unfortunately his career started going downhill after the Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson back to back knockout losses.
Are two fighters being close friends, a valid reason not to fight each other? Or should they put that to the side and fight? What y’all think?
Hitchins vacates the IBF belt and moving up to 147. Who y’all want to see him fight next?
A knockout that rocked the arena. On April 12, 2019, Vasiliy Lomachenko put on quite a show in his fight against Anthony Crolla.
Viddal Riley says he won’t fight Jai because he doesn’t have a belt.
i.redd.itWhat do you guys think of my first fight (Red) Lost Unfortunately
Who wins this?
No trolls, no stans. We have the Holyfield fights; Bowe did better. But who wins this.
Three days ago was the birthday of Arturo Gatti. He would have turned 54 years old.
The all-action fighter won belts in two divisions, as well as the Fight of the Year award on four occasions, along with Round of the Year, Comeback of the Year, and Knockout of the Year honors. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
Where would y’all rank Benavidez pound for pound, if he gets a dominant win over Zurdo?
This fight has mixed opinions. But who y’all had Winning Floyd or Oscar De La Hoya?
I remember watching the Tyson vs Douglas fight on HBO back on February 11, 1990. As Douglas kept fighting and the rounds kept passing, I was thinking “No way Buster wins this”. Boy was I wrong. A night to remember for Douglas and a night to forget for Tyson. Did you see this fight live on HBO?
Sugar Ray Leonard’s knockout of Donny Lalonde on November 7, 1988 was exciting and violent. Leonard ended up winning both the WBC Light Heavyweight and WBC Super Middleweight titles.
Name a fight y’all wanted to see but never happened.
Who y’all think Ben Whittaker should fight next?
Send the boom💥🥊
I’ve been on a heavy bag for a minute now and have more recently been attempting to develop my style based out of a peak-a-boo foundation/philosophy and built around my strengths and “x-factors”. I really want to fight at least one 6rd smoker and will be joining a gym soon to work with a coach.
This clip is 90m into my heavy bag session (2h session total). I’m 5’9”-5’10” hovering around 215lbs. The idea of what I’m going for is simple: Stalk —> Pounce —> Brawl while I have the edge —> Bounce.
I’m doing what I can to simulate the bag hitting back as much as I can for my style and what I’m working for.
With my short reach, I’m not winning fights from the outside. The idea here is to get to the inside and do as much damage as possible as quickly as I can before I exit out and reset.
My strengths/unique factors are that I’m ambidextrous, compact, on the quicker end as a HW, superior stamina as a HW; elite power generation, high-level reflexive athleticism.
I am banking that this all more than makes up for the shortcomings of the total platform.
**STANCE**
Squared (Slight Stagger)/0° Stance—— most opponents in my weight class will be 6’2” to 6’5”. In working as closely inside as possible in restricting their effective range of motion (ROM), such stance gives me a separate mechanism for power generation (quad-to-quad; shoulder extension; total system working like a piston) and hand-speed over a minimized distance.
A 0° stance also plays into my ambidextrous trait and provides a platform for more free movement vs bladed/traditional stances (forward, back, left, right, diagonals all available instantly).
I can also freely step/walk in/out of orthodox/southpaw as well as into more bladed looks.
Less rotational and linear travel is necessary from a squared stance; limbs do not require maximum extension for maximum power (quad + shoulder + body turnover create all power in one motion; form guaranteed by the “hip bump”.
**GUARD**
Guard is held slightly wider and more open than in a traditional PAB. My reasoning for this is that I’ll be relying on lateral shifts + slips/rolls to avoid jabs, straights, and uppers. Since these are already weaknesses to a squared off stance, I figure I might trade off the weaknesses entirely to stack strengths.
Namely, a slightly wider/higher guard has my shoulders pre-loaded and ready to fire. For me, in a traditional PAB guard, I’ve noticed a tendency to heavily telegraph and become disconnected in my hooks. This might be due to previous shoulder injury or whatever, but this guard seems to serve me on a bag (that doesn’t hit backs).
**LIFTING & HOPPING**
I will sometimes lift my feet or micro-hop as a reflexive adjustment to a litany of factors. Where it used to be way worse, I’ve tightened it up a bunch. However, it’s a characteristic if like to keep in the bag as it helps with mobility, speed, power, and evasiveness.
