At the start of this year, I moved in with an individual I found here on this subreddit, and I want to warn other people in this subreddit on being really cautious dealing with people online, and be extremely cautious trusting a stranger.

Everything seemed fine before but a couple weeks in they told me they take some illegal drugs which I don’t care about as long as I’m not involved with it. After a couple more weeks this individual started losing stuff and making accusations towards everyone else. Then they started demanding compensation from me, and when I gave them a notice for moving out like they asked, they waited until I paid rent to start locking themselves in the bathroom in the mornings to stop me from going to work, and blasting loud music in the middle of the night and refusing to turn it off. I felt so scared I had to call the cops to help me move! I am now crashing with a family member until I can find a place again.

I felt obligated to warn people how strangers online can be like. Everyone should really take care and vet strangers before deciding to move in with them. I wasn’t cautious enough and ignored red flags from the very start, but I wanted a place to live on short notice so I was desperate.

Hello all, I am curious if anyone has any insight on local or even Chicago-suburbs dealerships that are able to work with a recent repossession, for a car that can be paid in cash fully upfront. Nothing fancy just something reliable to get me from A to B. This is my first time in this position so I’m just needing some help getting pointed in the right direction if anyone is able to, TIA!
