How about more British Racing Green, with Mint Green topping?

First jazz bass, I’ve wanted one for ages but none of them ever spoke to me. But once they put out these Player II’s in my favorite color, I finally grabbed one and I love it! This neck is really great.

This is how doing bass soundcheck quickly turned into Georgy Porgy

Private gig at the beach, during soundcheck I normally play something simple and repetitive to check my tone and the sound guy does his thing, this time it became Georgy porgy by Toto, the whole video is like 8 minutes, I just cut it to when each musician joins the groove. Hope you like this one ✌️

My Number One

Just thought I’d share some pics and info about my number one player for around 15 years now-

Swamp ash 2-piece Warmoth “72” body, bought raw and finished in tru-oil

Gotoh 201 bridge

EMG Geezer pickup

Mid-90’s Mexican Jazz bass standard neck with original tuners and original cigarette stains

Dunlop straploks

Rotosound 66 swing strings.

Got me through literally hundreds of gigs, my very favorite bass. It can do Motown, it can do hardcore. The Machine.

New fatter String won't sit down in the bridge "thingies"

Hi, I changed the Strings on my Peavey Grind today. The old ones were too think and soft for my liking, new Strings are Ernie Ball Power slinky, so 50-135. The B and the D String don't completely sit in the Brigde "things" (Reiter in German). Should I file them down?

Also the strings have a sliiight gap in the roundwound wire. Is that an issue?

Local Media -- GODZILLA [2025]

Couple of YouTubers said this verse sounds like MF Doom faked his death and is still kickin' it.

I just play bass and dance. 🤘📺🤘

Is this Warwick rockbass worth it for $400?

I don’t know much about the Warwick brand but I’m always on the hunt for a deal too. Looks like it was made in 2017.

Experience with Epiphone Thunderbird '64 Bass?

Looking to get a second bass, and I think I should save up for this one. I have lately really started to appreciate the thunderbird, and I love the colour, but I realise that I don’t really know what to look for in this type of bass (other than minimum neck dive). Anyone have any experience with these? Well, my main questions are:

Does it intonate well?

How do the pickups sound?

How fat is the neck compared to other basses?

How bad is the neck dive really?

Thanks!

Ashdown Capri 23

This thing is incredible for the price. After sculpting my tone through the Mantle DI, it is blowing me away. It arrived in perfect condition—no cracking or other major quality-control issues. There are a few sharp edges and buzzing at the 3rd fret… but it cost a 10th as much as my other guitars, so I expected that.

I bought this as an ironic guitar to whip out on stage, a travel practice bass, and something I could hand my kids without worrying too much. But now I want to keep it all to myself…

This tiny 23-inch scale bass sounds massive. The finish is super sweet, and I’m genuinely impressed by the neck.

I know I’ll change the tuners, send it to my guy for a full set-up, and get it dialed in just right. But wouldn't you do that with any guitar that's worth playing?

If you're considering one of these, just go for it. What's one more bass?

Help me upgrade my pickups

hey all!

this was a DIY jazz kit I bought a year ago, and while I already did a couple of cosmetics changes, now I want to upgrade my pickups.

what do you guys recommend me? I currently play in a stoner rock band, and aside from that I play a lot of reggae/dub and also disco.

Ibanez EHB before and after: Nordstrand BigRig Set + Glockenklang 2-Band

I bought this second hand Ibanez EHB about a month ago, since i wanted an ergonomic bass which was also easy to travel with.

But i wasn't satisfied at all with the stock pickups and preamp. So i ended up gutting the original preamp and pickups. After that, i did some shielding, and drilled an additional hole in order for the toggle switches to sit evenly.

I then proceeded to install a set of Nordstrand BigRig humbuckers, and wired their coils to both the toggle switches. I did this in order to split them pickups individually in Series, Single Coil and Parallel mode. And let me tell you, this thing has become a tone monster. The difference is night and day!

The 2 band preamp is an active passive (push pull volume pot) with bass and treble controls. The last one becomes a passive tone control once the preamp is disengaged.

I'm loving it so far!

How to remove broken straplock?

My straplock broke so obviously I want to replace it, but the part where you pull to remove the upper thingie broke. Any idea how I can remove this without damaging my bass?

Rig Update - I didn't realize the Jazz Bass was my favorite until I had 3 of them

Here's my rig for my 90s-00s covers and originals band. The CV 70s is standard tuning, the Paranormal 54 is half step down. Both have DiMarzzio Ultra Jazz pickups, stacked vol/tone and blend controls, and Wilkinson Brass saddle bridges. I just got both wired up and working. The VM fretless is just for kicks (all Squiers). TU-3, MXR Bass Synth, Bass Chorus Deluxe, Compressor, and Way Huge Pork & Pickle on a Nano+ powered by CIOKS SOL. Ampeg Venture V3 head with two SVT-210AV cabs. Very happy with the setup, it's been in my head for a long time and it's done for now.
