Other than DOA, is there actually a record of all sculpts a company has had?

Question in title. I started wondering when a friend showed me a pic of an unknown doll she was thinking of buying, and the sculpt name is on the tip of my tongue…I can picture the promo pics for the doll and everything but I cannot find a record anywhere. Even DOA. So I was wondering if there was an alternative place to search?

Why do some collectors/artists put anti 3d printing alongside with anti recast and anti ai?

Recently I stumbled across a couple on Instagram accounts who collected or made dolls and they had exactly that in their bio. I've always known that porcelain dolls are more respected in the community because of all the craftsmanship, time and money that goes into that process, but not at the cost of hating on 3d printed dolls? I also saw a lot of people in a doll related poll suggesting excluding 3d printed bjds from the community. Why is that? I am only now learning about this opinion, so I'd like to hear your perspectives.

I love my Echo Town Evelyn's magnetic hands & feet. Why aren't they more common?

i just saw a post where someone was asking about how to get a shirt on their doll. A reply mentioned being extra careful with hands and feet, warning that the connection could be damaged.

I hadn't given the difficulty of dressing bjds much thought prior to buying my first. I have an Echo Town Evelyn, with magnetic hands & feet. It's so easy to swap them out for different poses, clothing & shoes.

I think I'd be nervous removing strung hands & feet. Fearing I'd break them. I've also seen some collectors mention the range of motion is a little more limited. But, I don't have any experience with that.

In looking for future dolls, magnetic hands have become a big deciding factor for me. I genuinely thought it would be more common. I found that some artists use magnets for hands, but not feet. But a lot of the bigger companies still don't use them at all.

I was fortunate to get in on the DoDollsDream preorder for a Muse. Besides the dolls being absolutely gorgeous, I am so excited about the variety of magnetic hands & feet they offered.

So, why aren't more creaters using magnetic connections? What companies **do** use magnetic connections? Do magnetic hands & feet have any impact on your decision to purchase a specific bjd, positively or negatively?

I'm really curious to hear what other collectors think!

My first BJD Doll!

Hello everyone!!

Im super excited to be posting on this subreddit. I purchased this Impldoll Kamara with Chubby girl body sculpt in 1/3 SD on Alice Collections, and I’m really happy to have her! I know owning a 1/3 doll may be a bit of a stretch, but I’m in love with her features and overall look. As of right now, I’m looking at faceup artists to bring my beautiful girl to life :) thank you for reading!

Body blushing: Makes a doll pretty or annoying to upkeep? Discuss!

As the topic states, I’d love to find out what people’s mindset is on body blush. On one hand it adds more color and realism to dolls. On the other hand, it’s a hassle to upkeep if it scratches- especially if you lack the skill to strip and re-blush, or can’t afford to get it done.

This is also sort of a question to feel out what the consensus or general feeling towards the topic is in terms of how I may do custom pieces in the future. As an artist I do less commission type work and more what I want to, but at the same time you have to shape your product around what people want to a certain extent.

How to keep dolls cool when photographing/traveling?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had tips on photographing dolls in warmer weather! I go to the beach a few times over the summer, and it would be the perfect backdrop for one of my dolls. However, it can get pretty hot (high temps in the 80s and 90s F), and I wouldn't know where or how to store her after taking pics. It's not worth the time (or gas money) to drive to the beach just for photos, so does anyone have any hacks? or are my beach-photo dreams dashed? (also I know beaches are rife with danger for dolls in the form of uv, sand abrasion, and water damage, etc, so if it's just not worth it at all let me know!)

How do I pull on the shirt?

Too afraid I might break her head by popping it off? Is there any other way to put it on?

My amateur attempt at a "lace" glued wig

I wanted to make a wig that shows my doll's scalp, but I dont know how to make lace wigs. So I used glue instead. And this is the result!

How do you think I can improve this idea?

Its pretty sloppy. And I honestly prefer how it looked before adding the bangs. Still, I might be on to something. My second or third attempt will probably be better.

New doll!

Yesterday my partner and I went to UK BJD con and.... I think I got the surprise of my life.

Basically, I've always wanted a mermaid, but I've never found one I truly liked until I saw her. While I missed her pre-order period, Dolce Luce dolls had one in stock for the longest time, and I was planning to get her once I finished my current layaways next month but she was suddenly taken down from her website and I assumed she was gone for good, little did I know it was my partner who got her and asked her to bring her to the con so I could get her in person!

I seriously can't believe this beautiful doll is mine, I've wanted her for so long and now she's finally home! I've decided to name her edeN (spelled that way), and no matter what happens, I'll always cherish her 🩷

edeN is a Gem of doll Coraline mermaid ver 🩷

Don’t Touch my Bangs!

She’s so cute! The size is great and I love that she came with a stand. I didn’t have any issues with the clothing quality, her sweater is really soft and everything went on fine. These dolls are strung really loose, I don’t usually like having wires in the joint but it works okay on her, and helps hold poses better. The hair……… the material is so sticky feeling. I really prefer fluffier doll hair and I find her hair a bit unpleasant to touch, though it looks nice. I boil-washed it and that didn’t change much, I might do a full wash with soap to see if I can soften it up a bit bit it’s okay for now.

I really like her overall look, and for the size and quality I think this series is a good deal!

Pretty Day

I'm forever impressed by the height variety of 1/4 dolls. I have 3 and they're all dramatically different heights.

I spent some time hemming Silver's clothes today and adding some snaps, and I wanted to take photos of their properly fitted outfit on this lovely day.

How long does it realistically take Ring Doll to produce a doll?

I recently ordered Richard the Lionheart from Alice’s Collection, and I was told production could take around 120–180 days. I’m curious how accurate that estimate usually is. This is my first BJD, so I don’t have any prior experience with waiting times.

For those who have ordered from Ring Doll before, how long did it take for your doll to arrive? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

Low-key going crazy over this piece of resin 😭

Hello! Lurker here. I've been out of the bjd hobby for years, and only recently returned. I was scrolling through pics of 75cm dolls (what can i say? I like big dollies lol) and came across.... HIM. Omg. He's beautiful 🥺

Butttt..... Of course, I was 1. Too late to his preorder, and 2. He's wayyyy outta my budget. I was just gonna hope and pray he came back soon, but I heard some people say Soom bjds are like expensive bricks 😭. But I just can't stop thinking about him. So, I'm asking here.

Does anybody know of any bjds that kinda resemble him or have a similar vibe? Please I'm desperate ;-;

Thank you all 😔
