14u aau kid called my Kyrie 5 SpongeBob’s “banana shoes”

I help my college coach with his aau team and i was there helping out with the drills and one of the kids looked at my shoes and said “coach Ron-you got on the banana shoes”..i said they’re Kyrie 5s then i realized that these new gens wouldn’t even have a clue that Kyrie was originally with nike because of how deep the kyrie lore is- so all they know is that hes with anta since they are new gens and this shoe was probably released when they were either born or practically babies 😂😂.

Im in college and play for my uni btw -but it comes to show how old im really getting😂 because when he said that all the kyrie lore just flooded my mind…..His logo is different too so like i said “theyre kyries” expecting him to have know what kyries logo looks like but real ogs know!

Whats yall thoughts.

Most all of these I bought after hours of decision and research, seeing what fits me the best and what I would like the most, so I’m excited to see what everybody else thinks.

808 3 ultra v2: these are just great, nothing wrong with them at all. Fit is great, I go a half size down for a 1:1 fit and they are perfect. It’s almost impossible to roll your ankle in these shoes because of all of the support. For cushion, there’s nothing wrong with it but it’s not like superboom where you feel like you’re on a trampoline.

Anta Kai 3: just got these but so far they are exceptional. The traction does take breaking in, but that’s the only thing wrong with them right now. N2 foam from Anta is my second favorite cushioning setup ever. Support is great, the lateral flange makes the shoe super wide, and the fit is great; it keeps a 1:1 fit while still leaving some breathing room.

Kai 2: again just a great shoe with nothing wrong with them. I got these a half size up because where I bought them my true size wasn’t available, so the double sock adds some cushion. Like I said with the Kai 3, the n2 foam is great, but the stack is lower on these. These are very slim and sleek shoes, more agile than the 3s even though they are a bit heavier. Still one of my favorite shoes, I still think 3s are better

Ja 2: I got these in a half size up also, but it ended up going good because again, the double sock adds cushion. These are a great shoe for people that want a baseline shoe, nothing bad, nothing exceptional. The lockdown and fit is great with the double sock. These lateral flange makes the ankle support pretty good, and traction is what you’d expect from a Nike Ja shoe; really good.

Kd 14: if you’ve seen my profile before you know these are my GOATs. Zoom strobel and cushlon is the best cushion setup ever, lockdown and support are amazing, and even though they look and are bulky, they don’t feel like it. Traction is 10/10 on indoor courts. Don’t use these outdoors, durability outside is the only thing wrong with these.

Kd 17: I bling bought these, and by that I mean I didn’t watch any review, just went in store the day they came out and bought them. Cushion is half and half for me; heel cushion is amazing, air strobel and cushlon is great, but the forefoot shank strobel makes my knees hurt. Traction is 10/10 inside, one of the tractions that works on any court, no wiping needed.

Sabrina 2: I love these as an easy option. By that I mean a shoe that is comfortable, fits with no pinch, has great lockdown, and won’t hurt my knees after I wear them. After broken in, these feel like a minimalist shoe, but shock absorption is great because of the cushlon. I don’t know if this is just me, but I absolutely couldn’t feel that zoom unit, but it didn’t really matter to me because it didn’t matter when I played. Traction is great, another 10/10 traction that works on any court; matter of fact I use these outside and they have held up. Only thing really wrong with these is that the upper durability is horrible, the uppers will fall apart before the midsole or outsole.

Zoom freak 6: the only reason I bought these is because they were $20 at the outlet. These are like a level below the Ja 2, a baseline shoe but with one setback. Everything about the shoe, traction, fit, lockdown, cushion are all middle of the line, nothing bad or exceptional. However, the support is trash. I destroyed my ankle in these and haven’t worn them since.

Don issue 7: I love these so much, not just the looks but the cushion, traction, and support are amazing. Cushion isn’t maximalist but isn’t bad at all, heel has good compression and forefoot is responsive and low to the ground. The one thing I am mad about is that every review I watched for these said they ran true to size, but I had to double sock to get a 1:1 fit. If I were to buy them again I would go half size down.

Harden 7: got these because they were $20 on Mercari and I needed an outdoor shoe. They have a really hard rubber and it’s deep so it’s perfect for outdoors. The fit is really good, this is my favorite lacing system, and support is great. Heel cushion is top tier because of the boost, and forefoot is just like a layer of foam that is just there. No compression in the forefoot but it has good shock absorption.

Ae 1: these are pretty good, nothing exceptional. I think everybody thought this, but these ran big, definitely would’ve gone half size down if I were to buy them again. With double sock, the lockdown was amazing, possibly the best I’ve had. Traction is really good, but I have a problem with it. The thin lines rip off on the sides, it doesn’t really affect the traction but it’s annoying to see. Durability on the uppers it top tier, there’s nothing that can rip these (on the court wise) but don’t wear these outside because the outsole will fall apart. Cushion is good when it’s good, but after that it’s done. Another thing about it is that even though it has a relatively high stack, it feels very low to the ground. No compression, but great bounce and shock absorption

Lebron 20: these are in my locker at the gym, but these are exceptional. Traction is top 3 all time imo, cushion is my third favorite all time, and fit is good. These fit 1:1, which is great for me, but the heel doesn’t lock down well. There isn’t heel slip, but you could fall out of these shoes from the heel. The cushion is great, best bouncy cushion I have currently. These are kind of built weird, on hard cuts/ direction changes my foot goes over the flange. I haven’t had any problems, but they just feel weird.

i found this in lazada and they haven't listed the name of both the shoes but the blue one has the ag logo and the other one has a traction pattern similar to that of the big3 5.0 quick and quick pro

I found this pair of Kobe IX’s Mambacita for around 70€. Seller claims they were worn once, so what do you guys think about the condition and the price? Also can someone legit check them for me? They seem pretty real but just checking.

Wow 12 or Harden Vol 10

For those who have both shoes, what feedback can you give based on your experience?

Contemplating between the 2 since both have good impact protection for the knees

Also sizing suggestion for the wow 12, i’m a 7.5 in Book 1s (snug fit). Thanks!

What shoes could you recommend for high instep foot?

I become a fan of Lining Way of Wade 10 and 11 because of their carbon plate. But these shoes are just too tight in the middle. Not where you can just release the laces but infront. And idk what shoes to get because i just watched tiktok before buying both of these shoes and everybody kept saying that wow10 or 11 are great for wide feet and they are good for big feet but it was all a lie. So can you recommend me some shoes that have carbon plate and high instep friendly?

New (Nike) Hooping Shoes

I am college aged and currently play/practice often. I’ve had two pairs of GT Cut 3 and they are great, but the durability on the bottom isn’t it. They always have a gap/tear in the traction below the knuckle of the big toe. I also have wider feet so I’m not sure the Ja’s will be a good fit.

Any recommendations of Nike basketball shoes? I would prefer something with cool/unique color ways with nice bounce.

P.S. I am a Nike guy. I am aware that there are better and cheaper shoes but I like Nike.

WOW 12 & GT Cut 1

For those who have both pairs - which do you prefer and do they feel similar in terms of cushioning? Is there a clear winner as a performance shoe?

My GOAT performance basketball shoe is the GT Cut 1 and I've been meaning to try the WOW 12. I'm eyeing the Cherry Blossom release later today but just want to see opinions on both pairs from those who own both.

EDIT: I also own a pair of Jordan 40s and absolutely love the cushioning on them. A little high off the ground and very snug but still breaking them in.

Why aren't there more polyurethane based outsoles (GCU, RPU, SPS) being used in basketball shoes?

I'm curious why if many of the flagship shoe lines for Chinese brands are using some PU materials on their shoes, Li-Ning Gamma, WOW12(ish), 361 Joker GT/Biospeed BB/Menace 2 Pro, and Serious Player Only (all lines)...

  1. Why aren't traditional brands trying them?

  2. Why does Li-Ning appear to be moving away from GCU? The WOW12 only has GCU on the midfoot and heel while the 808 Ultra only has GCU on the outside of the forefoot. The AC14 only has Tuff RB.

I'm sure there's some diminishing returns / cost benefit analysis that is going on here, but I can only guess that the people buying premium shoes in the US largely play on clean courts which most shoes will be just fine for, while the people willing to pay extra for consistent grip on a dusty court are probably not worth the innovation.

Thoughts?

Would like to add another outdoor shoe

Hi guys thanks for recommending the Book 1’s in my previous thread. I got the Moss Point color way off Amazon at $100 and I’m happy about the purchase, i had to get .5 size up actually so glad Amazon does returns easy.

I’m looking to add another shoe in because I’ll probably wear the book 1’s casually also. Can you guys help recommend another shoe for outdoor use ?

I don’t play competitively or anything I’m just trying to use this as my workout in the mornings and want to get really good at shooting and finishing so I’m at an outdoor court for about an hour or longer and want to avoid knee pain that i usually get after playing for a while - the book 1’s have been nice to play in, seems they have quite good cushioning.

I tried to get Kawhi IV’s on sale but they cancelled on me so I’m trying to see if I should find them at regular cost or if anyone has better recommendations for what’s out. I’ve heard about some other new balance shoes being good but are they worth $120+ ?

Never realized how many different shoes there were and that some could help something like knee pain lol.

Thank you in advance !

Nike Precision 7 vs Sketchers SKX Float for dodgeball?

I play dodgeball. I used to play on a turf field and used cleats. Now we've transitioned to a court so I needed some sort of shoe for that.

I'm by no means a shoe expert. I purchased the Precision 7's (after my work discount I got them for like $36). I was at Burlington Coat Factory today and saw the Sketchers SKX Floats and from what I can tell, it seems to be a better shoe.

But it's also much bulkier and heavier from what I'm seeing. I'm wondering if, for my purposes, if I'm better with the Nike's after all.

Edit:

  1. Height & Weight: 6'3" 175lbs
  2. Age: 33
  3. Foot Type Requirements & Sizing: Narrow
  4. Playing Style & Surface Type & Level of Competition: basketball court, dodgeball
  5. Brand Preferences & Price Range: No brand loyalty, under $50

Which shoes do I get

I’m a 6’2 post player going into senior year, I’m mostly a pf/c but sometimes coach has me guarding quick guards. Last year I wore the LeBron 21s and I wasn’t very quick laterally, but I was a great rebounder last year and was good for posting up, I’m pretty strong so me being 6’2 is fine I’m also 200 pounds. This year, I’m also gonna be posting up a lot and getting rebounds but I want to be quick so I’m thinking abojt the Nike Air Zoom GT cut 3’s. That way I can still be big and quick. Can anyone else recommend me some or lmk if this is a good choice. Thanks.
