For this year's Met Gala, the theme was Costume Art. For the rest of us, it was resistance, against the pressure we live under and the pressure we place on ourselves.
This piece draws from Richard Serras Tilted Arc, installed in Federal Plaza in 1981 and removed a decade later by the same system that commissioned it.
Here, that gesture is relocated to fashion's most visible stage. Hand bent from 18 gauge stainless steel and weighing 100 pounds, the work is heavy, immovable, and imposing. It interrupts movement, demands awareness, and occupies space without compromise.
Set in the middle of the red carpet, it stands as an obstruction, slowing the forward motion, confronting the ease of participation, and holding its ground against the quiet drift toward thoughtlessness.
Hi, I’m a fashion student working on an assignment connected to Rick Owens. I had to design/create a collection for Rick Owens, and the concept focuses on political activism, anti-colonialism, and anti-imperialism. The two main topics I’m focusing on are the war in Ukraine and the genocide happening in Palestine, since one of these topics is personal to me and both are issues that Rick Owens and Michèle have spoken up about.
Right now I need to create customer personas for the collection. So if you’re into Rick Owens (actually own pieces or into fashion with a similar aesthetic), or if you know someone who is, I’d really appreciate it if you could DM me and maybe help by letting me feature you in the project as a customer persona.
You definitely don’t have to be Palestinian or Ukrainian, but of course that’s a bonus. The same goes for people from countries affected by colonialism or imperialism. But even if you’re not, and these topics are still important to you, that still works perfectly for me.
Thanks!
(P.S. you also have to be a man/identify as a man since I am doing a man’s collection. And I’m pretty sure nonbinary also works.)
Hello, I already tried to look for some shoes of Helmut Lang, but it is not working out, so I concentrate on one particular design that I have seen online a couple of times.
A pair of Chelsea boots in black calf leather with the typical metal caps at tip and rear.
A size UK 10 (that number would be written on the sole and inside) would be perfect (UK9 to UK 10,5 works also)
I know the prices for them, and im willing to pay that, if the offer is right.
Thank you!
