Between the Pine Barrens, the Jersey Devil legend, and some genuinely eerie historical sites, there’s a lot here that keeps coming up in discussions, investigations, and local stories.

Curious how many people here have actually explored any of these spots or had experiences of their own.

Here are a few places that come up again and again:

1. Pine Barrens / Leeds Point (Jersey Devil territory)
This is basically ground zero for the Jersey Devil legend. Leeds Point is often cited as the origin story going back to the 1700s.

  • Dense pine forests, cedar swamps, and the “pygmy forest” areas
  • Reports over the years of strange sounds, high-pitched screams, and sightings of something moving through the trees at night

2. The Blue Hole (Winslow area)
A deep, perfectly circular blue pool hidden in the woods that a lot of locals consider one of the creepiest spots in South Jersey.

  • Known for the “bottomless” legend and strong undertow
  • A lot of people mention that heavy feeling like you’re being watched when you get close

3. Batsto Village (Wharton State Forest)
Old iron-working village from the Revolutionary War era that’s now a historic site.

  • Frequently mentioned in ghost stories and paranormal investigations
  • People talk about shadow figures, movement between buildings, and general activity after dark

4. Absecon Lighthouse (Atlantic City)
One of the oldest lighthouses in the U.S., and a pretty well-known spot for paranormal stories.

  • Reports of footsteps on the stairs and unexplained smells (like cigar smoke)
  • Also tied to the “black dog” legend seen along the coast before storms

5. Smithville (White Lady sightings)
Most people know Smithville as a shopping village, but it has its own share of ghost stories.

  • Sightings of a woman in white near the lake and walking paths
  • Often connected to older Pine Barrens folklore

A couple things locals always seem to mention when talking about this stuff:

  • The Pine Barrens go dead quiet right before something feels off
  • New moon nights are supposedly the most active
  • And obviously… don’t go wandering onto private land

Not trying to turn this into a guide—just genuinely curious:

Has anyone here actually experienced anything in the Pine Barrens or around Atlantic County?
Or even just visited one of these places at night?

Would be interesting to hear what people have seen (or didn’t see).

I'm trying to come up with an estimate on what it would cost to live in an AC condo to decide if its worth pursuing.

Can anyone please tell me what are the HOA fees and what does that include for the following condos in AC: Ocean Club, Ritz, Brighton, Bella, Oceangate, Biarritz? Are utilities included or are they separate?

Anybody live there? Do you like it? Why? Why not?

What are your recommendations? Any others worth looking at?

Also, I heard that because of the condo collapse in FL some years ago, condos were under new rules to do structural reports and in NJ, these were due to be released early this year, any info on this and any special assessments imposed?

Tysm to anyone who can give me any info!
