Meet Americans (as a German)
Hi all, I’m pretty new to Berlin myself and just recently moved here from southern Germany. I’ve visited here on and off before, but I’m still looking to build a social circle.
I’d also love to meet Americans - out of curiosity I’m just interested in different perspectives, lifestyles, and ways of life. I tried to get a Green Card at one point, but now - as I said - I’m settling in Berlin for the time being 😌
I'm M30, enjoy the sun whenever possible (parks, swimming, ...), like motorbikes, good energy, and authenticity. Would love to meet someone curious, active, and with a good balance of depth and lightness :)
Be Honest — Is Your First Europe Trip Just UK, France, Italy & Spain?
Just a bit of fun 😄 We all know Europe is far more diverse than this, but let’s be honest, for many first-time trips, it often ends up being the “big four”: UK, France, Italy and Spain.
Nothing wrong with that, just the beginning of discovering everything else the continent has to offer!
Sling bags when traveling
Traveling to Ireland and the UK this summer and trying to dial in my day-to-day carry setup for sightseeing days. I’m a 50s guy and normally would just use pockets or a backpack, but I really don’t want to carry a backpack all day walking around Dublin, Edinburgh, London, trains, etc.
For the guys here who travel in the UK regularly:
Do slings look normal/common there for men?
Do you keep wallet/phone in the sling or still use front pockets?
Any issues with pickpocketing on trains or Tube when using one?
Is an 8L sling overkill for daily sightseeing?
Trying to balance comfort, practicality, and not looking like an overprepared tourist. Appreciate any advice!
What is Europe’s ‘Florida’?
At dinner tonight we were talking about some of the great places that we’ve been fortunate to visit, and a friend asked ‘what is Europe’s version of Florida?’ And we were stumped. Any ideas?
