Struggling TvT
Hello coming back to the game after about a year and have been struggling TvT it’s my least favorite matchup. But I don’t even know any build orders or general rules of thumb for the matchup is appreciated. For context I’m a D3 player but feels like my TvT is well behind that and I’m carried by the other two matchups.
2 Gate Before Nexus
Hello friends. D2 Terran. I keep getting cooked by tosses who play 2 gate before nexus and walk at my natural with stalkers. My build order is 1 rax expand with a 17 scout.
What's the proper response to this build? Generally I've been expanding on the low ground, putting bunker at natural, and going factory -> reactor -> marines + hellion. My units aren't strong enough to stop his stalkers from just walking behind my natural mineral line. I pretty much just die after he kills all my dudes and starts shooting my natural orbital. I've also tried my 2nd CC on high ground but I find it really hard to break the contain on my natural.
Thanks fellas please help a Terran out

So I'm a new sc2 player, started playing 2 months ago and I've been following Pig's b2gm guide on terran (2021 version). Now I'm in plat and started to lay mech with a early 4 hellions harrassement. In this game, I just can't believe how well it worked. It never works like this in other games. Can people explain to me if it was just a skill issue on his part or was he just super greedy.
Edit: Thank you guys for the great response, I really love this incredible community.
Hi everyone,
I'm a gold/plat player and I've been trying to improve my army control, harassment game and overall mechanics lately but I'm struggling with this when it comes to drop:
I always keep my main army on control group. When I want to do a drop, I just box a bunch of units and right-click them on one or two medivacs, but I would like this "harassment team" to be in a separate control group. I can easily do it with the medivacs of course, but I don't how to do it for the units inside. I've tried control-clicking them but it just unloads whatever unit I clicked on.
Is there a way to do it? Or do I just have to wait until they dropped to remove them from my main army's control group? That's what I'm doing now, but I often forget to do it and end up messing things up while I'm moving my main army.
Hello! New player here with another question.
I am trying to decide what kind of hotkey setup is optimal for me. So far, I have used 5 for command centers, 2 for barracks, 3 for factories, 4 for starports, and only 1 for my army. This is because since I am a beginner I got kinda used to just A-moving most of my stuff together and then clicking individual units with my mouse if I want to move them around while in battle. I realize that this is a horrible habit and I want to get rid of it as early as possible. I now realize that I need 1, 2, and 3 for my army so that I can siege my tanks fast, move my air units separately fast, have only infantry on 1 (or even to split marines and marauders), etc... But then if I assign some of my production to 6 and 7, it feels too far to reach and seems pretty bad.
Should I put all production on one hotkey and then use tab to switch between them? I am thinking that the extra keystroke (tab) can be inefficient. Do intermediate/advanced players use tab? Or do you remap some of the keys somewhere else on the keyboard? P.S. command centers on hotkey 5 is non negotiable.
Any tips are greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I've seen casters mention these power spikes in various matchups even when upgrades are around even for both sides. Assuming the opponent has kept up in armor upgrades doesn't that mostly negate the attack upgrades (at least for marines). And how exactly does the armor upgrade for the terran bio contribute to a power spike? Due to how attack upgrades work, wouldn't 3/3 marines technically be squishier against a 3/3 collossus for example than 0/0 marines vs 0/0 collossus. Same for other units like lurkers, banelings, ultras etc
I will try to harass, look at my units... then float 1000 minerals and gas, forget to build scvs... :(
and if I do not babysit hellions, banshees, etc. they will die instantly :(
I was playing erg previously and this feels hard... and I feel so slow.
any tips?
Meta Questions
Hi guys, what’s the current meta for the Terran matchups against the other races? I’m returning from like 3 months and want to know if anything has changed.
