Qwest: Lazer Jet 7g, not buying qwest anymore.

So I first tried qwest back in November when they came out with Georgia Pie, absolutely loved it. Recommended it on reddit & even my friends. I bought like 7 bags of it back to back then I tried Grande Guava, it was meh for the price. Then I tried the morning sun, absolute garbage. 0.5g short, all popcorn buds, weird smelling. Then I tried Grape cream cake & it was dry af, ending up being dust with 1 spin of grinder. Then I recently tried Lazer Jet, disappointed. Again too dry & dust.

And I am not even being picky, back forty weed packaged in Dec has good moisture in it and it matters a lot to me since I dry vape only. Paying $40+ for these is not worth it.

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. These were provided as a sample through the mail. Not currently on the menu, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them show up in the future. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the nose. Fairly heavy citrus right out of the pack, and it carries into the smoke as well. Flavour sticks around at least halfway through the joint, which was better than expected for this category.

Smoke itself was nice and smooth. These are a straight-cut format, more like a cigarette with hemp papers, which is a bit different. The draw was a little tighter than I’d like, and at first I thought it might be the longer filter, but even trimming one down didn’t really change it.

Burn was consistent. No resin ring, but the paper had visible oil spots before lighting. Ash came out fairly light, which was a bit surprising.

Effects were lighter than the THC number suggests. Listed at 31.6%, but it didn’t hit like that. Still, it was a perfectly pleasant, easygoing high. Nice for daytime use, especially something like going for a walk or a hike.

This feels like a product that knows its lane. Not trying to be a premium terp bomb, but it delivers a smooth, citrus-forward smoke that’s easy to enjoy.

About the brand: Back Forty focuses on accessible, high-volume products that aim for consistency and ease of use. This one leans a bit more toward experience than some of their standard offerings.

My score: 7.4/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like citrus-forward, easy-smoking pre-rolls for daytime use, you may rate it higher than I did.

Hey fellow Albertans,

Just wanted to let you know that I have a fairly massive selection of accessories available from pretty much any and every 420 category that you can think of. I also try to provide the best possible pricing on the internet (if possible), so if you are looking for something and have found some prices, let me know, and I may be able to get you an even better deal. No guarantee, but I am always happy to try!

I do not have a standalone website or store, which is how I am able to offer better pricing (zero overhead), but I do have an established reputation with reviews on some 3rd party marketplaces. I can direct you to those upon request. Also happy to answer any questions, so don't hesitate to reach out!

Stay safe out there!

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. Taken from our inventory, currently $11.99 on the menu. I paid cost. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the aroma. Nice creamy kush smell right out of the tube. Not overly pungent, but definitely there.

Smoke had a creamy front with a bit of spice on the finish. Fairly smooth overall. It had me wanting to keep smoking past the halfway point, but the effects were telling me to hold off.

Burn was solid. Even burn the whole way through with a hash ring forming early. Ash leaned a bit darker but it smoked properly.

Effects were nice and calming without being sedative. More of a creeping onset that built up around the halfway point. Good strength overall and easy to settle into without feeling too heavy.

At $11.99, this feels like a step up in quality from the typical 2 x 1g pre-rolls from the bigger brands. Not trying to do too much, but it delivers a better overall experience.

I’d grab these again when looking for something to share with the boys while relaxing around a fire.

About the brand: Deadstock by Headstone focuses on value-driven pre-rolls that aim to deliver a bit more character and quality than standard budget options. This one fits that lane well.

My score: 8.0/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like creamy kush-style pre-rolls with a calm, steady build, you may rate it even higher than I did.

Tribal Neon Sunshine 5 x 0.5g Pre-Rolls Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this yesterday. These were provided to me as a sample and are not currently on the menu, but keep an eye out for them. Expected MSRP is around $20.99. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the nose. Limonene and humulene come through right away with a really natural citrus profile instead of anything artificial or candy-like. It smells fresh, bright, and properly terp-forward.

In the smoke, the limonene is very noticeable in the first few pulls before more gas starts showing up on the finish. Nice natural flavour the whole way through. Smooth, creamy smoke with no harshness despite a slightly darker ash.

Burn performance was excellent for most of the joint. Hash ring started forming almost immediately, no runs or canoeing, and it stayed consistent through the majority of the smoke. Near the end it became a little more resin spicy and needed a bit more attention to keep lit, which took a bit away from an otherwise premium smoking experience.

Effects landed in a really nice functional zone. They started building around halfway through the joint with that slight tug on the eyelids, but without getting racy or overly heavy. This feels perfect for people who still want to be active and engaged while high.

Honestly, this feels like a pre-roll that’s trying to move the category forward a bit instead of just chasing THC numbers. The combination of flavour, burn quality, and effects makes it stand out.

I’d absolutely buy these again and smoke the hell out of them while camping in the mountains.

I’ve also got the 1g glass tip version sitting here waiting for me, so I’ll drop a link to that review once I get into it.

About the brand: Tribal is a terp-forward cannabis brand under Cannara Biotech focused on modern genetics, strong flavour translation, and premium smoking experience at a relatively approachable price point. Tribal has built a strong reputation around resin production, flavour carry, and consistency across both flower and extracts.

My score: 8.7/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like natural citrus-and-gas terp profiles with strong flavour carry and functional hybrid effects, you may rate these even higher than I did.

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this tonight. Taken from our inventory and available in store for $18.99. I paid cost. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the smell. Loud right out of the pack and it brought me back to some older school profiles that don’t always show up anymore. More of a creamy kushy nose with some citrus in the mix, which made it stand out right away.

The taste followed through well. Creamy kush with a bit of citrus and funk behind it, and it stayed interesting through the smoke. This wasn’t one of those products that only smells good in the package.

Burn was excellent. Even the whole way through with a nice hash ring forming early. No fighting with it, no touch-ups, just a clean easy smoke.

Effects came on before the halfway point and kept building. Relaxed, chill, easygoing vibe that still had enough life in it to enjoy music, movies, or getting into something creative. For me, a full 0.5g solo was bordering on more than I needed.

This feels like a strong option for someone wanting flavour, proper smoke quality, and a noticeable unwind without getting completely flattened.

About the Grower

Everest is an Alberta-based producer that seems focused on terpene-forward products with a more quality-driven lane than mass-volume brands. Their better products tend to feel made for people who still care about smell, flavour, and overall experience.

My score: 9.1/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you love creamy kush-forward pre-rolls with some citrus and strong relaxing effects, you may rate it even higher than I did.

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. Taken from our inventory, currently in store at $13.99. I paid cost. Same honesty either way.

First impression was fairly mild out of the package. Not overly pungent, but not completely flat either.

Flavour followed that same lane. Light citrus with a bit of underlying depth, but nothing too loud. Easy to smoke and not harsh, which makes it approachable.

Burn was solid. Nice even burn the whole way through with a slight hash ring developing about halfway. Ash was a medium grey. Overall no issues on the smoke side.

Effects came on reasonably quick with a fresh, uplifted feeling. Not heavy at all. Felt like something that would work well for chores or getting through stuff you don’t really want to do. Keeps things moving without getting in the way.

Strength felt moderate. A full 0.5g was enough for me and I actually found myself wanting to put it out a bit early.

At $13.99, this feels like a solid value option. It doesn’t have the flash or terp punch of higher-end pre-rolls, but it’s perfectly smokable and does what it needs to do.

My score: 7.6/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like lighter, functional pre-rolls at a good price point, you may rate it higher than I did.

Super Toast Diamond Grape 1g All-In-One Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. This was provided to me as a sample. These are already in the market, although we don’t currently have them on the menu. Expected MSRP is around $36.99. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the smell. Overwhelming grape aroma as soon as the package opened. Very much in that grape drink / Kool-Aid lane rather than natural cannabis terps, but honestly it fits the product well.

The packaging itself is pretty fun. The toast-shaped design is novel without feeling too gimmicky, and I actually liked the included sticker that can be peeled off and placed onto the vape itself. Small detail, but it adds personality to the experience.

First puff had a slight pop, which honestly isn’t unheard of with Super Toast all-in-ones. After that though, airflow was good and the device worked well. USB-C charging is a nice touch and so far I haven’t had any clogging issues.

Flavour is strong and consistent. Full grape candy/Kool-Aid profile that stays noticeable throughout the session. Surprisingly smooth considering how flavour-heavy it is.

Effects hit quickly with that heavier diamond-style onset. Strong high upfront, although it doesn’t linger as long as some other formats. More of a quick heavy punch followed by a fairly manageable comedown.

This feels like a product designed for convenience and public-friendly use more than terp nuance or strain authenticity. Great for outdoor concerts, festivals, sports games, or other situations where you want something discreet, flavourful, and easy to carry around.

Not really my everyday style personally, but it’s well executed for what it’s trying to be and I’ll definitely use it to the end.

About the brand: Super Toast focuses on approachable, flavour-forward cannabis products built around convenience, strong flavour identity, and fun presentation rather than traditional craft-style cannabis experience.

My score: 7.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy strong candy-style flavour profiles and quick convenient highs for social settings, you may rate it even higher than I did.

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. This was provided to me as a sample. Product is expected to hit shelves next week at around $18.99. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the aroma. Nice creamy, cookie-style sweetness right out of the package. More of that baked goods/dough profile than anything sharp or loud, with just a bit of funk underneath to keep it interesting. Not overly loud, but pleasant.

Smoke was smooth and easy the whole way through. Flavour carried nicely with that same creamy sweetness, and a bit of funk coming through as it burned. Nothing harsh, just a comfortable smoke.

Burn was exactly what you’d expect from Carmel. Solid roll, even burn, consistent airflow, and a light grey ash. Smoked clean right to the end with no issues.

Effects landed in a really nice spot. Relaxing, calm, and easygoing, but still functional. Didn’t feel heavy or sluggish. This feels like a great daytime option if you want to stay active but take the edge off a bit. Good for getting out, doing something, and still enjoying the moment.

At the expected price, this feels like a solid option in that mid-premium range. It leans more toward a smooth, easygoing experience than something loud or punchy, but it’s well put together and easy to enjoy. I’d personally pick this up again for things like lawn care or home maintenance where you want to stay moving but take the edge off.

My score: 8.4/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like creamy, dessert-style strains with a balanced, functional high, you may rate it even higher than I did.

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. This was provided to me as a 3.5g sample. We currently carry the 7g on the menu for $59.99. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the nose. Great smell right out of the package. Definitely Sour Diesel. Limonene is there but not in that sharp lemon cleaner way. More natural, slightly sour citrus backed by that classic gas.

Flower was in good shape. Nice moisture content, not too dry and not overly sticky. Came packed in a white mylar bag.

Ground it up with my standard hand grinder and rolled it in Gizeh extra fine papers. Smoke came through smooth with great flavour. The sour diesel profile carried nicely and didn’t fall flat.

Burn was solid. Even burn with a medium grey ash. No oil ring, but it smoked clean and consistent.

Effects showed up right away in the head. Elevated, carefree, and functional. This is exactly where Sour Diesel should land. Great daytime smoke that keeps you moving without getting in the way.

At $59.99 for 7g, this sits more in the premium range than mid. Based on this sample, it feels justified. Good nose, good flavour, and effects that actually match the strain.

About the brand directly from the owner Ryan "We're a family owned local Alberta brand aiming to widen the craft cannabis offering to Alberta consumers with hometown favorites grown entirely hydroponically for optimum root zone control"

My score: 8.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like classic sour diesel profiles with a clean, uplifting high, you may rate it even higher than I did.

Pure Sunfarms West Coast Classics 10 x 0.5g Pre-Rolls Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. These were provided to me as a sample, but we currently have them on the menu for $26.99 Same honesty either way.

This is a really interesting product concept from Pure Sunfarms. The West Coast Classics pack combines 5 Blue Dream pre-rolls and 5 Pink Kush pre-rolls into one package, giving you two completely different classic strain experiences depending on the mood you’re after.

Before even getting into the smoke itself, the packaging deserves a mention. Pure Sunfarms has done something pretty innovative with the clear window on this pack. They seem to have figured out that whatever is visible behind the window technically counts as being inside the package, which lets them add a little more personality, strain information, and fun to the presentation without stepping outside compliance rules. Honestly, it feels like a meaningful step forward for legal cannabis packaging and helps the product feel a little less sterile.

Starting with the Blue Dream side, the nose was a little more muted than some Blue Dreams I’ve had in the past, without a huge burst of berry or floral notes, but it still had a nice sweet smell that felt familiar and approachable.

Smoke was smooth and easygoing. Slightly sweet with a little creamy character coming through. Hash ring started forming fairly early and the joint burned well the whole way through with no runs or canoeing. Medium to light ash and an overall comfortable smoke.

Effects are exactly why Blue Dream has stayed popular for so long. Nice light daytime high that stays super functional. Great for running errands, going for walks, doing something creative, or just generally staying active while high without feeling slowed down.

Moving over to the Pink Kush side, the nose had more of that sweet cushy earthy smell you’d expect from a classic Pink Kush, although still somewhat muted. Honestly, I think part of that probably comes from having two different terp profiles sitting together in the same pack.

Once lit though, the difference between the two strains becomes really obvious. The Pink Kush side has thicker, cushier smoke with a stronger resin ring and much heavier relaxing effects. Burn was solid overall with no canoeing, although I did need one relight around the middle, which honestly may have just been me not paying enough attention to it.

Effects were classic Pink Kush. Nice calm mood, heavy eyelids, relaxing body feel, but still functional enough to enjoy yourself without completely checking out. Great for campfires, evening walks, or just relaxing after work.

What really makes this product work is how different the two experiences feel from each other. The Blue Dream side is productive and functional while the Pink Kush side is calm and relaxing. I genuinely can’t pick a favourite between the two because they serve completely different purposes, and honestly that’s exactly why this pack works so well.

I already carry both strains separately on the menu, but the duo pack format just makes a ton of sense for regular smokers who want options without needing multiple containers sitting around.

About the brand: Pure Sunfarms operates under Village Farms and has become one of the biggest names in Canadian legal cannabis through consistent large-scale greenhouse production focused on approachable pricing, reliable quality, and classic strain offerings.

Overall score for the West Coast Classics pack: 8.6/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you’re someone who likes having both a productive daytime option and a relaxing evening option ready to go in the same package, you may rate this even higher than I did.

Which OCS LPs are putting out true top shelf / AAAA flower?

I know this is probably gonna get some opinionated answers, but I’m asking this genuinely and in good faith. And before anyone comes in with “OCS doesn’t sell real AAAA”, that’s not really the discussion I’m trying to have here.

I’m more curious which LPs people think are putting out the best flower available on the OCS right now. Stuff that’s actually well cured, properly dried, trimmed nicely, potent and flavorful.

For me personally: Simply Bare, Frost, HighXotic, NorthernCanna, BLK MKT are standouts.

Who’s consistently dropping the best of the best on OCS in your opinion?

nugz rosin | bubble up

9/10 - This stuff goes pretty hard and has a super dank smell to it. It definitely got me ripped. I’m just getting into concentrates, and this is maybe the 5th rosin I’ve tried. Out of all of them, this one got me the most high, and the taste is great too. I’ll absolutely buy it again. Bonus points for the packaging being dope ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ

Back Forty Liquid Imagination Flower Rosin

Paid about 35$ for the 7gs! Got 1.73g of flower rosin in return! Amazing looking nugs for busget buds! Terpy and sticky and fresh! I squish this strain pretty regularly as I always find fresh batches of b40 lately! Nice color and consistency and easy to dab! Definitely hits like a jet fuel strain! Squished this at about 78°c in a 37 micron bag bottle tech style. 9/10

Status Mellonaire 1g Infused Blunt Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. This was provided to me as a sample. We currently have it on the menu at a discounted $17.25. Same honesty either way.

First impression was a heavy nose right out of the package, although the melon itself was lighter than expected. More of a full terp-forward aroma with a bit of pepper underneath rather than straight candy sweetness.

The smoke itself was smoother than I expected for this kind of infused blunt. Creamy on the front with more melon flavour showing up on the finish. Full terp flavour without becoming overwhelming or overly harsh.

Burn performance was solid all the way through. Good draw with the glass tip, reasonably white ash, and the flavour stayed noticeable well into the middle of the blunt instead of disappearing early like some infused products tend to do.

Effects built gradually. More of a creeping relaxed high that settled in through the second half of the blunt. Chill, easygoing, and more social than sedating.

Two of us finished the blunt comfortably right to the end, which honestly says a lot for a 1g infused format. This feels like a good campfire blunt to pass around with friends.

About the brand: Status is a cannabis brand focused heavily on flavour-forward infused products with premium-style presentation. The brand leans into liquid diamonds, kief coating, glass tips, and terp-heavy flavour profiles aimed at a more indulgent smoking experience.

Overall, this was better executed than a lot of infused blunts in this lane, even if it still isn’t fully my preferred category.

My score: 7.6/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy flavour-forward infused blunts with a smooth smoke and relaxed social effects, you may rate it even higher than I did.

B40 Fire Breath

For budget weed this stuff hits pretty hard! Fresh batches are super sticky dense and covered in trichomes! Light green buds with orange hairs and dark purple hues. Smell diesel and gas. Been lucking out with fresh batches. Paid 32$ for the 7gs. Nice terps and translates nicely in a joint and smokes clean with a white ash. 8/10

u/Successful-Act-1727 — 5 days ago

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. Tried this today. This was a sample and I was given a few buds to try. Same honesty either way.

First impression was the nose. Great aroma right out of the jar with a delicious bottle cap candy type smell. Very fruity and sweet without coming across artificial.

Moisture content was right where I like it. Not sticky enough to gum up your fingers, but still fresh enough to smoke properly. I ran it through my standard grinder and rolled a joint.

Smoke was tasty, smooth, and even the whole way through. The fruity flavour carried nicely through most of the joint instead of disappearing after the first few pulls. White ash and a great hash ring really helped complete the experience.

Honestly, if this came from a less trusted company I might wonder about added terps because the flavour is that expressive, but knowing the brand, this feels legitimate and well grown rather than artificially boosted.

Effects were bright, clear, and uplifting. This is the kind of smoke that gets you out of your chair and ready to actually go do something. Felt social, positive, and functional without becoming racy.

I smoked about two thirds of the joint before putting it out, and that was more than enough for me.

This is absolutely something I’d smoke again, especially with friends at the park or floating down the river on a nice day.

About the brand: Partake Cannabis focuses on terpene-forward flower and approachable strain experiences, usually leaning toward clean flavour, smooth smoke, and easygoing effects rather than just chasing THC numbers.

My score: 9.0/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you like bright fruity flower with uplifting daytime effects and surprisingly strong flavour translation, you may rate it even higher than I did.
