AI doesn’t create in a vacuum - so where does that leave artists?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this since my last post here. I’m one of the co-founders working on this topic, and the more we dig into it, the more one thing feels pretty undeniable: AI can only generate what it has learned from human input before. That’s the whole point of these models. Which also means that a lot of existing art has been used to build systems that now generate value somewhere else, often without consent, credit, or compensation.
Call it what you want, but to many artists that just feels unfair.
That’s exactly the problem we’re trying to work on. We’ve built a service that attempts to detect whether certain works or characteristics might have ended up in training datasets, basically trying to turn that vague feeling into something more concrete and measurable. It’s still early and we’re definitely not catching everything yet, since this kind of analysis takes serious compute, but we’re continuously indexing more data and improving the system. (Thanks to funding from Google Start-up, we can activate a bit more computing power - shit is expensive) Let me state this upfront: We are worlds away from needing the computing power of AI models. It's simply not comparable...
The goal isn’t just a tool, it’s to move towards a situation where creators actually have some level of control again over what gets used and what doesn’t. If you’re curious, whether in general or with your own work or style, you can try it on NiftyIP.com, we would genuinely be interested to see what comes up and learn from it/improve.
At this point I’m mostly still trying to understand how people here feel about it: do you actually want that kind of control back, or does it feel like that ship has already sailed?
Big Thanks.
Just watched layer 5(did not really feel like making a shitpost so here is a progress on my drawing instead.)
I was not able to watch it for a day or 2 because i was sick. Very, very sick. Like I vomitted 3 times in a day, and had severe chest tightening(there may be other factors aswell but, man, it's because of watching a fucking jackass stunt that made me vomit. First time thats ever happend to me.. watching something and gagging wayy too much. If you ask, it was dave england's omlette stunt. Do NOT watch it. its not for the weak, i fucking beg of you. and they say the show is tamer than the movies).
Anyways, how i felt about Layer 5 is basically this....
filler... but enjoyable.
it was a bit slow... hence why it felt "filler". and most of the stuff happening is either Lain trying to learn more about human concioussness and the wired... or basically Mika going through more torture than a regular guy watching freddy got fingered.(the entire movie is basically tom green... just being tom green).
but it was smooth.. and mind you, im talking about the dub, so maybe the sub is even better.
It had necessary information....
one question...
does the accident and the ministry of information stuff basically show the wired and reality overlapping?(yes signals can overlap but the car, or more specific, the ECU of a car, cant be disrupted by a fucking information signal).
what was those napkins really? for grieving or something?
I know that Taro somehow made her undergo psychological torture by bumping into her and spilling juice...
or maybe the bump itself. is that right? and why so? like for the prophecy or something or.. is there more deeper reason about it?
Was Lain coming onto the big screen at shibuya basically someone in the wired imitating her? Because it is basically a symbolism of how people fake their identities on the internet, or how its possible someone can like, impersonate you.
Or atleast how i interpret it.
someone from the wired luring her in(which is basically Eiri, i know cuz of prior knowledge) just sort of supports my take on layer 3... where lain gets a psyche chip out of nowhere, and not a love letter...
which is, someone intentionally left it there.. maybe someone from the wired, or more specifically, the knights, to "fulfill the prophecy".
anyways, besides the unrelated references to two gross out dark comedies(which i apologize for. yes jackass is technically a dark comedy, what do you think laughing at extreme pain is, regular slapstick?), i have nothing much to say other than I enjoyed it.
basically, what i feel about layer 5 is what the azumangah daioh fandom feels about episode 19, filler but nice, and necessary.
technically nothing is filler in this series, its more or less, slow in this episode, slower than the average slow vibe, but the vibe it gives off is what a filler episode would give off, especially since a part of it starts of with mika waking up from basically implied sex with her boyfriend. Nevertheless, its good. goated
Also on the drawing, its pretty clear which movie covers im basing it off of, since the "i see dead people" is a very dead giveaway but still sort of unrecognizable.
For the ones who recognized which movie covers im basing it off of, do you think I should draw eiri or taro in place of Cindy? I think itd fit if it was taro but I need opinions. Still dont think ill change but ill see.
Website idea to combat AI images
Someone should make a website where users can submit AI images and other people recreate the images as humans through drawing, 3D rendering, and taking pictures irl, similar to image above (sadly cannot refind the creator)
De säljer Tralalero tralala på normal, har någon testat?
I've seen a few posts of this meme so I joined with my own persona
Idk if I've posted this here but here's my art of ballerina cappuccina because I like adding soul to the souless
say almost* anything and i'll turn it into digitalartslop
*no nsfw, no freaky shit, no borderline porn
I accidentally listened to AI Music......and was loving it
TLDR : I drank A.I. Slop and loved it, now I'm really mad, and a little scared.
I wasn't really sure where I could discuss this, I found this sub so I apologize if I am in the wrong place, I do not usually do this.
Before I get into my complaint, I want to be clear that I was seeking a conversation with this individual. While they responded to other comments critical of generative A.I. in art, and their confusion about if what they were listening to was real or not, they would not respond to mine (see pictures for the comments I left). They had started with just deleting my comments, now I am fully blocked. And I won't lie, I'm pretty angry.
During some random non-vigilant listening on youtube, I started vibing to a cuban-jazz mix pretty hard. I mean swaying in place with my eyes closed vibing. I was really loving it. Until a certain part was TOO good. Before even sitting down and researching the origins of the artist, I was already horrified at what I was thinking. I realized that the youtube video WAS the origin, and down on the very bottom in the fine print of the video description read the words "All music and visuals are AI-generated / La música y los gráficos son generados por IA."
I know this is nothing new, and I am well aware of generative technology, but this one hit me so hard, not because it was bad A.I. slop, but because it was GOOD A.I. slop, and I consumed this computer soup for a good length of time before even THINKING about checking its origin.
You may call me dumb for not noticing sooner, but I know I am not the dumbest. People will listen to the entire thing, they will listen to hours and hours of this stuff, without thoughts or care even popping in their skulls. The background music of our lives will only be produced by those wealthy enough to afford the equipment necessary to generate art this way. This guy pumps out video after video, without the actual suffering or understanding of making it, and can probably make money off of it. Creatively, we are done for as long as individuals like this are allowed to mislead in these sort of ways. Although true art will always prevail (underground, etc.) major portions of the public do not care about the horrible transformation human creativity is going through.
I argued with myself about including a link to the video, I apologize if this is against the rules, I only encourage civil conversations, but this made me way too mad to keep to myself.

Two arguements i absolutely evicerated 😊
Both were on the same post and are in order
wait I didn't know I could post music here
here's a little something I made kinda as an 8-bit battle theme kinda thing, I have ones for other brawlers too. idk if they're any good though since I make midi music instead of normal music 👍
Warning your child about the dangers of AI is apparently indoctrination and shitty parenting now
This is wrong on so many levels.
What are the Mario bros views on using ai
that reaction image trend but with my sona
Why do ai bros hate us when they literally need us?
Considering what I've seen, the AI bros couldn't care less if someone stops posting/making art. Infact sometimes it looks like they perfer it. Like dont they have the ability to cinnect dots? Don't they realize the only reason AI has good training data is because people post their art?
"Level 5" is using generative ai for their next games.
What the fuck ...
The next games are going to be made with generative ai. Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, Yo-Kai Watch, etc.
Everything.
They fucked up absolutely everything.
