First Soul Grind
Hey ya'll - been casually blading on rec skates my whole life and just pulled the trigger into aggressive skating about a month ago. Took a lot of step ups to get to this little guy. I'm just starting to jump into low ledges but still get kind of stuck on the fear etc, some days better than others. I'm sure this is super common but how do ya'll deal with truly comitting to the jumps into objects? Let alone a proper high ledge. Anyways love this art & sport so deeply, cheers from New Jersey 🤝
Rollerbalding session with my 90s crew. Yes, I spelled that right.
We had enough of a break in the weather to cruise around the neighborhood. My brother in the middle sold me on buying frames that can fit 80mm for cruising. One small skate for rollerbladers, one giant session for dad kind! An hour later we got snow.
Tips on 360?
I have inconsistent 360 and I keep getting lost in the air.
And I keep bending my legs under me.
Older skater trying to learn. At a loss
Ive bought aggressive skates roces m12. After normally riding my powerslide next first at 3x 100 and then switching to 4x76.
My intention is to have fun at skateparks we have a bank at my local skatepark. When im skating approaching it I can quickly step up it sideways and then jump down no problem. But once im standing up on the top of it I freeze I cant make the commitment to riding down. And im at a total loss on how to break this.
My local skatepark is small and this is it's easiest element. In feeling like a total loser
Back on skates after 18 years….
These razors SL arrived today. I still had old USD Grycon bandana at home, but they are extremely narrow for my foot. I'm curious about muscle and brain memory or if you have to learn everything again at 37. What about you? Have you also returned to skating after a long time?
Hey all, randomly found this sub.
This sub randomly popped up on my feed and I am so glad it did! I have not skated in about 25 years now, my last two pairs of skates were the red K2 fatty pro's and the 97 roces majestic twelves.
I am still fit and healthy and I am so tempted to start again, not sure I could still flip and spin like I used to and not sure my ankles could handle high rails, but it would be interesting to see what I can remember.
Do the younger skaters give us older lot funny look's at parks nowadays, like will it look mad when a 40+ year old starts dropping in on the half pipes if they still even have those? I am in the Midlands, England currently so not sure where I could even go and skate.
Razor Cults vs RB80s
looking to buy my first pair since childhood, I'm 6'4 255lbs now. Which of these is better to get back into skating?
TLDR: Blading community good. Wholesome experience. (Story time)
So as an update to my last post (and some backstory)
It’s been 17 years since I last bladed. I had no one but buddies who skateboarded, so I picked that up and enjoyed it through highschool and adulthood, but stopped heavily skating when I started a family. Aside from the occasional “show up at the park, stretch and don’t land shit”
My girl got into quads, and would come to the skateparks with me to roll down banks, so I decided I should get some blades again even just to roll around with her while she gets confidence with her grind blocks to drop in. Then she dropped in and I was so proud, it reminded me of my first drop in.
So I go to fb marketplace and I’m lucky to find a pair of remz available in my size. I always loved remz but as a kid with a growing foot, my mom wasn’t down to shell out that much cash. So even after researching how many people hate the remz 2.5 I still grabbed them. I figured never having skated previous remz to compare to was good in this situation
I didn’t like how tall the mega frames felt on the skates the guy sold me, so I asked him if I could swap frames with one of the other options of skates that he was selling. He tells me “why don’t you take them all and just build a pair and give me the rest”
Hell yeah. I meet up with him an grab the other skates with my tools and go to a skatepark by his house so that I could test run everything and give him his stuff back the same day. (Mind you I JUST met this guy. So he was blindly trusting that I’d return the rest)
I build the remz the way I wanted, but for old times sake I tried the razors on as well (when I was a kid I only had k2s from academy and a pair of cult 7s)
Razors definitely felt more natural, but I had already ordered liners in hopes they’d fix my issue with the remz
Anyway so I leave the park and pack everything up to go meet the guy and give the other skates back. I was already planning on buying the razors from him just as another pair of skates sometime in the future, but I was gonna let him know in person.
I text him “hey I got my build figured out, I’m on my way to drop the other skates.”
He hits me with “100$ and it’s all yours”
(Not including the 225 I already bought the remz for)
So that’s total $325 for Razors SL, them skates 909, and remz 2.5. AND helmet and wrist guards AND some extra frames/wheels
I pulled over so fast and cash apped him.
So now I’ve finally got a pair of remz
I’ve got a pair of razors which is somehow so nostalgic for me just putting them on,
And a pair of them skates to bust my ass on.
Guys I’m on cloud 9. I drove home damnear misty eyed. I remember staying up late/early as a kid waiting for the fedex truck when I ordered my cult 7s so this was just.. insane to me.
The guy just made me promise to put it all to good use, and to go have a beer with him sometime. That won’t be a problem at all. Just seems like a huge sign that getting back into blading is going to bring a lot of needed positivity into my life.

Can you explain me what hammers are ?
I've often seen the term "hammers" used to describe a certain style of agressive skating, much like wizard skating, but I've never really understood what makes it unique. Can anyone explain it to me?
Excessive slo mo to distract from me not being ready for that stupid kicker haha
Lee Deverex still skating?
A few years ago there was a pretty big UK based skater called Lee Devereux. Does anyone know if he is still active?
Night skate in the 5ths
I’m usually in bed at this time but my wife had a late flight. This curb was the only spot with enough light, I guess they switch the overheads off by 9 pm.
Been skating flat, but decided to set up my 5ths with anti again and I put my Nomad liners in… best these skates ever felt.
Anti rocker in the 5th Element with a good liner is the easiest skate to grind in for sure.
Which way do they look better?
The hockey laces hold stiffer but I haven't tried riding with them yet. The black stock ones look boring in my opinion.
Coming back from a ten year break
I just got interested again to start blading again, seen a lot of clips lately and just remembered how fun it was. But I dont know why I feel so much shame to go to skateparks. Maybe it's because I would be a beginner and I havent seen people with blades usually? Any advice for this? I know its a stupid problem but somehow I cant get over it lol. Found My old blades and even cleaned the bearings.
Back after 20 years
Need some advice on these old inline skates I got today. I skated a bunch as a teen but I always skated regular inline skates. Could never afford the pro skates. So I skated the ones from big box stores.
Fast forward 20+ years. I’m a dad and I’ve been teaching my kids how to skateboard and we go skate all the time now. Well now they want to skate inline.
Found these on FB marketplace.
Question:
I will obviously need new wheels. But I want to skate flat as I will mostly be skating with my kids and just flow skating up and down ramps. No grinds or anything crazy.
Will I need new frames altogether?
Does the parts market make frames for older skates like these? Rob Guerrero left RB like 10 years ago so I’m guessing these are pretty old.
Any other advice for getting these skates all cleaned up and back in commission?
