A-List should have an end of year wrapped
Itd be so cool if there was a wrapped feature that showed how much money you saved, your favorite snacks, favorite showtime/seat, most rewatched film, favorite genre etc.

hi everyone!
I wanted to ask what the screenx experience is like and whether or not folks enjoy it. I would imagine it’s not like a stretched out version of the film on screen, but maybe rather more like background details on the side panels? (ex: ocean, sand, etc).
I honestly don’t know and I’m wondering what the vibe is :3
I organized an AMA/Q&A with Renny Harlin, director of films like DIE HARD 2, CLIFFHANGER, DEEP BLUE SEA, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4, CUTTHROAT ISLAND, THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT, THE STRANGERS trilogy, and lots more.
It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1suyj28/hello_reddit_im_renny_harlin_ive_directed_die/
He will be back at 4 PM ET on Monday today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!
Thank you :)
His new movie, DEEP WATER, stars Aaron Eckhart & Ben Kingsley and is out in theaters everywhere next week.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0ptq0Lzdh8
Synopsis:
A group of international passengers en route from Los Angeles to Shanghai are forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. Now they must work together in hopes to overcome the frenzy of sharks drawn to the wreckage.
Surprised that no one has mentioned this. GKIDS is releasing the 4K remasters of these two Ghibli movies in select theaters, including one day each for IMAX. Whisper is showing right now, and Arrietty is scheduled for next month. This is not part of the annual Ghibli Fest so the movies are covered by A-list.
Just finished watching Over Your Dead Body. Wanted to warn everyone that there is a serious almost-rape scene that comes out of nowhere and is treated like a joke.
To me, the joke was tasteless and ruined the entire movie. Totally unbefitting a comedy. I wanted to warn anyone who may be sensitive to this.
I just left the theater for the 755 showing & the audio for us was completely muffled. A very annoying feature seeing this movie really focused on the audio for its aspects of horror/shock. Got a refund but man what a fucking bummer. I didn’t know I was watching “Evil Dead: Underwater no snorkel”
Did this happen to anyone else tnght???
28 of them original... not sequel reboot etc.
I'm including The Mummy... besides the title it's a completely original film.
Of the 28: a lot of nice small budget surprises like Cold Storage, Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die, Exit 8, Dead Man's Wire
Best bigger budgets: Send help, Hail Mary, 28 Years Later Bone Temple.
Worst: Protector, Psycho Killer, Mercy
One of my best friends birthdays is coming up and I was thinking about getting her a subscription since we've been seeing a lot of movies together recently. I have a-list right now and wanna know if I could get her the subscription at a discounted rate? If not, when would be the best time to get it for the lowest price? I'm kinda a new member so I'm not sure how it all works, her birthday is mid May. Thank you!

Is there any way to find out which movie theaters will be participating in giveaways for the premiere of a film? I really want one of the AMC giveaways. I asked my local AMC today, but they told me they won't have that merchandise for next week and that they don't think they'll be participating.
Coca-Cola dance off girl speaks out.
Thought this was going to have a larger release, none of my local Baltimore AMCs out of the like 6 aren’t playing it at all 😢

Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?
Short Answer is Yes.
But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to presentation. Be on time.
AMC has upped their rerelease game a lot this year, and I’ve been paying for some of them so I can watch newer movies or expensive IMAX rereleases with A-List. I do my best to only pay for the cheapest tickets/fan faves.
The Revenant ($7.75 - $5 reward = $2.75)
I Swear ($7.75 Unseen Screen)
The Mummy Returns ($7.75)
Jerry Maguire ($7.75)
Fight Club ($7.75)
**Total: $33.75**
Edit: Seen 67 movies total
I have seen 47 movies since the beginning of the year and, currently, I would say that The Christophers is in the number one slot for favorite movie so far. In keeping with the art theme— brushstrokes of humor and poignancy, tinted with a bit of devious and cunning.
Did anyone else go see it, and if so what did you think? I am willing to bet that McKellan will be nominated for best actor across all the different award venues for his performance as should Michaela Coel— looking forward to seeing her with Anne Hathaway in Mother Mary!
Well I felt like a movie on Wednesday afternoon, and saw that "Mile End Kicks" was playing. This looked like one of those artsty-quirky-hipster kind of things that, despite not being arsty or quirky or hipstery myself, I tend to enjoy. So off to AMC I went.
Anyway, "Mile End Kicks" is a slice of life coming of age kind of thing. Set in Montreal's Mile End neighborhood circa 2011, An early-twenties-something girl, struggling to launch but with a love of "Indie" rock music, leaves her dullish life in Toronto for Montreal, hoping to write a book on Alanis Morrissette and to report on the city's thriving indie-rock scene of the time. Moving in with a friend who is already settled there, she ends up struggling and forging through her journalistic work, her book writing, financial crunches, and hooking up with various rock band members. This goes on for about 110 minutes of youthful pain and joy and discovery.
I mean, I kind of liked this movie. It *is* very artsy/quirky/hippy, and the makers and cast do a good job of evoking the time and place (I happened to spend time in Montreal in 2010-2011 and remember the scene), as well as the familiar struggles of being 20ish and trying to launch. The movie was clearly made by someone with a passion for all these things so you are drawn in by it. Still, it is perhaps 20 or so minutes long, there are scenes that seem repetitive. But this is a minor thing, overall.
B ... decent indie/quirky/artsy movie about an indie/quirky/artsty music scene 15 years ago.
Didn’t think I would still feel the same way I feel about this film but MAN, this movie is a banger. I think they still playing imax showings today. Please find your local theater to watch this movie you will not regret.
Well I'm a big fan of Bob Odenkirk, his "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" character is IMO one of the best we've seen on TV the past 20 years, so I have made a habit of watching his movies. And when I saw he was starring in "Normal", that was enough to draw me to the theater.
Anyway, Odenkirk stars as Ulysses, a Sheriff-for-hire who fills in temporarily when a town is between full time sheriffs and needs a temp. He's hired by Normal, MN to do just this, and when he arrives, the town does indeed seem utterly boring and normal on the surface. But a bank robbery soon reveals that strange doings are happening, involving just about everyone in town, a big pile of cash and gold, as well as the Japenese Yakuza crime organization. Lots and lots and lots of gunfighting ensues. This goes on for about 90 minutes.
Basically, I liked "Normal" while the film was, well, normal, with the sheriff interacting with the local townspeople and fellow law enforcement. Henry Winkler, who will always be The Fonz to me, is good as the mayor, and we get one of the pretty women from Game of Thrones as well. These interactions have a quirky, "Fargo" vibe that worked. But once the fireworks start, the film devolves into just a mass orgy of shooting and killing and over the top disbelief. This bored me, and since the fireworks are about 80% of the movie, it bored me.
C - minus .... recommended for John Wick-type blast away fans only.
