I am going on missions trip with my church to capture content. I have an A7Siii, A7RV, 24-70, 70-200. I have been debating if I should take both cameras and mess around with constantly swapping lenses or just bring the A7Siii for photo and video. Photos will mostly be using for socials and small format prints, no large format prints. I’m just not sure about the quality of the photos from the 12MP sensor.

Does anyone have experience with using the A7Siii as a hybrid camera?

TL:DR how are the photos from the A7Siii

I’ve been using the Sony A7S III and A7R V since they were released, and both cameras are running the latest firmware. Yet a persistent issue keeps causing me to lose a lot of footage.

I usually record video on memory slots 1 or 2, according to my settings. As soon as recording starts, it stops abruptly, and the screen flashes between 4K and 1080p, swapping frame rates. The only way to recover is to remove the battery, reinsert it, and restart the camera. This problem occurs on both bodies, even with the newest firmware, so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated defect.

The display continues to toggle aspect ratios and frame rates until I change the memory slot (e.g., to A or P) or power cycle the camera again. Has anyone experienced the same issue, and if so, how did you resolve it? Thank you.

Wondering if the update to 5.0 fixed the issues that got introduced in 3.00-3.02.

Has anyone updated? After I would love to hear if it worked out or got even worse.

Had to give up the audio jack and speakers from the update 3.02—Currently using a Mi-shoe mic and monitor to Check playback and audio.

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out the best focal length for vlogging on a full-frame camera (Sony A7S III).

Main use:

handheld vlogging (walking + talking)

travel videos

I care about good image quality and stable-looking footage

I’ve seen people recommend everything from 14mm to 24mm, so I’m a bit confused about what actually works best in real use.

Right now I’m not sure whether to go with a 16mm or a 20mm prime.

For those with experience:

what focal length do you prefer and why?

is wider always better for vlogging?

how big is the difference between something like 16mm vs 20mm in practice?

Would love to hear your thoughts 🙏

Looking for a monitor compatible with Sony cameras that has touch focus, and ability to control settings from monitor . Maybe wireless/Bluetooth .. it's a monitor for my gimbal , not necessarily a cage

Something similar to rhe Creative app for Sony (I'm just too scared to update my camera to 3.0 🤕)

shot w. sigma 24-70 - slog3 at 12,800 iso - basic correction lut

I thought that the iso is the higher native, so it would be sharp and without grain in the background, but it seems to me like there's still noise

Hey everyone, I recently got a Shinobi 2 and updated it to the most recent firmware. I have an A7Siii that is running firmware 2.11 ( scared to update ). When I connected the Shinobi to the Camera via USB C I see the touch focus box and icon, I am able to change the camera settings (iso, etc) via the Shinobi but the touch to focus is not working. Does anyone have a solution? Or what might the problem be? Thanks in advance.

Today I bought two 64GB v90 cards to shoot DCI-4K and 4K 120p; the two smaller cards were cheaper than one 128GB by about 100 AUD with the same read, write speeds. For now, I don’t mind the smaller size.

But my a7s3 can’t recognise it as v90 for some reason. It’s SDXC ExFAT V90. I’ve formatted both and neither work. The cameras on version 3.02.

I’ve seen some people have this problem but only from a few years ago, mostly when the camera first came out.
What can I do? Any help would be appreciated.
