Does this show ever recover from the second half of season 8? (Spoilers)

I’m just now watching for the first time but it was impossible to miss the controversy around killing Bobby on the show. Does the show ever recover or is it just a lost cause? I don’t know if I should invest so much time into something if the show just goes to shit for good but if it goes back to being good I can get through the weak parts. Thank you!

I am not the most diehard buddie shipper, while i do enjoy it and hope to see them together. After Eddies plot lines this season, I am struggling to find a way for them to introduce a love interest that’s either 1. a woman or 2. not buck, and have it still make sense for his character.

The catholic guilt, “how can you be so bad at this?”, all of 9x13, the BuckTommy competition principle applying to eddie and said lover interest, the “you have not looked at a woman in over a year”, and honestly the list goes on. So many lines and scenes indicate that direction for his character and we have yet to see any clear progress towards this. I genuinely want to see eddie happy, I believe he deserves some “juice” after all the trauma he went through.

But yeah, I need someone to explain it to me. I posted this here and not on r/buddie becuase i wanted some unbiased opinions.

What do we think next year's opening disaster will be?

Seems like they keep getting bigger and bigger every season. How are we going to top Athena in space?

We need a firehouse episode!!!

I desperately need an episode in Season 10 where they're stuck in the firehouse with no emergencies and just show the chaos of them getting on each other's nerves etc.

how did theo get up high?

I;m sorry I still can't for the life of me figure out how the heck did Theo get to the top of that tower he was found on?

I mean it is one thing that he walked however far he walked and climb over how many gates but any comments on how he would have gotten to the top, where he was found?

I'm watching the video analysis of Jane Mulcahy in YouTube. This girl analyzes the series from beginning to end, talking about the characters, the plots, the bad and the good of 911. That's when he played this section of the video where he starts talking about Shanon (Eddie's ex-wife), and as the video says, Eddie was a horrible father and husband at the beginning of everything.

Shanon married him and had Chris almost hostage cuz' all the catholic deal, gave up everything just to take care of Chris. But then Eddie enlisted in the military, leaving everything in Shanon's responsibility, and there is a scene Jane showed in which Shanon is complaining about what he did when Chris was born, and she says she wants yo relocate with Chris (who by this time Eddie didn't even treat him like a son) and he dares to say to her "can I just take a little damn time!?" it made me angry. He didn't let her see Chris and it seems like their parents in law hate her for no reason.

What happen to Eddie when Chris discovers the "doppelganger" of her own mother is like the perfect punishment for him, to put it in a way.

It's so sad, and this does not help Eddie at all saying that he is the least well written main character in the entire show.
