I don’t know anything about Chris Dudley’s politics, but now I think of this play everytime I see his commercials. 😂

BOYCOTT THE SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE!

Just found this. Relieved I wasn’t the only one thinking it. Black folks are finally calling for a Southeastern Conference boycott in response to Republican attacks on voting rights.

The argument is simple:

SEC schools are in states whose Republican leaders are actively stripping voting districts that serve Black voters

Those same schools pull billions in revenue off the backs of Black athletes

56% of all Black Americans live in the former Confederacy — these are OUR states, and we deserve real political representation in them

The ask is three things: weekly boycotts of nationally televised SEC games, current Black athletes transferring out of SEC schools, and recruits de-committing.
Football, basketball, track — the SEC moves because Black athletes make it move. Without us there is no product. No TV deal. No Saturday cathedral. Take a look at the rosters and tell me I’m wrong.

This is the exact playbook our elders used. The Montgomery Bus Boycott worked because Black riders were the customer base. Lasted 381 days and broke segregation on public transit. The Birmingham campaign worked because it hit downtown merchants in the wallet during Easter shopping season. Economic pressure on the institutions that depend on us — that’s the tradition.

And right now, while Alabama’s House Speaker is openly calling for the Supreme Court to overturn (reinterpret) the 14th Amendment so they can dilute Black votes even further, the University of Alabama is making a fortune off Black 18-22 year olds. That’s some bullshit.

Our elders didn’t play it safe — they put their bodies and their livelihoods on the line. If we want our votes to count, we have to use meaningful leverage. Hit’em in the pocket!

Boycott. Transfer. De-commit. Demand justice.

Trump's DOJ is Abandoning Antitrust Enforcement. Help State AGs Step Up.

The federal government has been captured by big corporations, and under the Trump regime it has reached the point of absurdity. They have effectively abandoned the job of enforcing our antitrust laws, clearing the path for mega-mergers and further corporate consolidation. And we’re getting caught in the crossfire, subject to the whims of a smaller and smaller number of CEOs on the number of choices we have and the quality and cost of whatever we’re buying.

Here’s the good news: state attorneys generals, particularly but not limited to the Democrats, have taken up the battle Trump’s henchmen are too corrupted to fight:

This is not an easy job. States will need to build the capacity and bring in more expertise for this level of enforcement. It will not be cheap. If they’re going to do it effectively, we are going to need them to work together, and we’re going to need to make sure they have the financial resources required to take on corporate giants in court.

🗣️ Let’s reach out to our state legislators and governors and urge them to appropriate money designated for our attorneys general to work in coalition with other states on antitrust suits. We can find scripts and email language here. We can also send them this message directly via Resistbot by texting SIGN PTLZXS to 50409. 🗣️

Rally Against Data Center Disasters! Saturday, May 16th at 10pm. 4825 NE Starr Blvd, Hillsboro, OR.

Hope you can join us at this action. It was in an Oregon court during an ICE officer’s testimony that the nation learned Palantir, a mass surveillance company utilizing Amazon Web Services and technology, used governmental data from Medicaid and other databases to target immigrants and fuel dragnet sweeps in Woodburn, OR. We are targeting Amazon through consumer education for enabling ICE’s abusive immigrant enforcement and subsequent inhumane detentions.

Hope to see you there.

Join us at the Flagpole! May 25th (Monday, and yes, it’s Memorial Day!)

Please join us for a Memorial Day rally. We will be focusing on asking for Peace, for an end to this illegal war. Stand up for those who have fought, and often given their lives by standing up to support the democracy for which they fought.

As always we will have extra signs, we will have some chairs available, and we invite you to bring your friends. If we want things to change we need to stand up and resist. Say no to new wars, say no to new attacks by the current administration on our people, on our safety, on our ability to provide food for our family and others, for attack on voting rights. Protect our mail in voting, and speak out against the threats of military or quasi military individuals being sent to the polls to intimidate people trying to vote. Stand up for Democracy, stand up for Peace and stand up to our neighbors!
