This is a call to every organizer, every congregation, every young person who has never seen a march but always knew one might be necessary. This is the moment.

LSG Sky Chefs, a prominent global catering service provider to major airlines, has come under scrutiny for allegedly engaging in unfair labor practices. Employees have reported instances of wage theft at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) Sky Chefs flight kitchen, where they claim that their wages were docked for break times whether or not they were given 30 minutes free from all job duties, resulting in significant financial distress for many workers and their families.

If you don’t have a protest sign, no worries. We always have extras. And we have bells and pom poms!

Do NOT park in the parking lot of the office complex at 707 Westchester.

Instead, park along the street on Rockspring Rd off of Westchester or in the parking lot to the side of DeBeen Espresso, 709 W. Lexington Ave.

Avoid walking across the parking lot of the office complex to get to the protest area. Walk on the “public” easement (7-10 feet from the street). The property owner is looking to pick a fight with us, so we don’t want to give her cause to call out the police again.

I'll have plastic gloves and garbage bags for anyone who would like to pick up trash afterwards from the public strip of grass that we protest on.

Our May Meet Up will shine a spotlight on one of the most pressing issues facing our community — food insecurity in Guilford County. We'll hear directly from leaders of local nonprofits who are on the front lines every day, doing the work that matters.

The numbers tell a sobering story: 15.2% of Guilford County residents face food insecurity — and for children, that number climbs to 22.5%. Behind those statistics are 82,510 real people — neighbors, kids, families — who don't know where their next meal is coming from.

But this evening isn't just about the problem. It's about the solution.

Our speakers will share how their organizations are reimagining what community support looks like — moving beyond traditional charity toward programs that are inclusive, dignified, and human-centered. Because people don't just need food. They need to be seen, respected, and empowered.
