I was gifted a 2015 27 inch iMac. I'm trying to install Linux mint on it. I formatted my USB to use FAT and GUID. Then burned the cinnamon iso to it with balena etcher. I get to the boot drive selection screen, choose the efi, and then nothing. I just get a black screen. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.
I should note that I am a noob when it comes to Linux and to Mac.
Any suggestions?
I got a 27" 2017 iMac that I want to install mint on. I'm very inept with mac as I've mostly used windows my entire life and have stayed far away from macs ecosystem. I got it to the utilities screen but I don't have an option to disable secure boot. Holding the alt key on startup also does nothing. I don't know how to change the start drive and it Also just won't show up on the use startup disk utility. I have 2 different usbs with mint

a case
No motherboard
how do i frankenstein that laptop ram into a desktop build? i went looking for am4 boards that support sodimm but they are crazy expensive. How reliable are the adapters?
