Who or what inspired you to start making comics?

Was there someone who made you want to create comics? Maybe your family, friends, another artist, a story you loved or even your younger self?

Sometimes the reason we start creating is very personal and I think it would be lovely to hear those stories.

So, comic creators, who or what inspired you to begin?

How do you decide the price of your comic?

Pricing your own comic can feel weird.

"Should I charge for it?"
"Is it wrong to ask for money if I made it out of love?"
"Is my work really worth that much?"
"Will people even pay for it?"

I think these questions appear in almost every creator’s mind at some point. When something is personal, emotional and made with passion, putting a price on it can almost feel wrong. But creating something with love does not mean your work has no value.

Of course, it makes sense to look at the market, compare similar comics and understand what readers are used to paying. But at the end of the day, only you really know how much time, effort and dedication went into your work.

Your comic is not just “a few pages.” It is the time you spent writing, sketching, drawing, coloring, lettering, editing, studying, improving and sometimes starting over because something did not feel right.

When thinking about price, I believe creators should consider things like:

  • How much time each chapter takes
  • Whether the comic is black and white or fully colored
  • How detailed the art and backgrounds are
  • Software, brushes, assets, fonts or licenses used
  • The amount of study and practice behind the work
  • Extra elements like music, sound, animation or bonus content

A fully colored comic, for example, usually takes much more time than a simpler format. A comic with detailed backgrounds, polished panels or extra immersive features can also justify a higher price.

And I think this also applies when creators add something extra to the reading experience. For example, if a comic has sound, ambient tracks or a more cinematic presentation, that can increase its value because the reader is not just paying for pages, but for a more complete experience.

But I also do not think there is one perfect answer. Some creators may prefer keeping their work free while building an audience. Some may charge for early access, bonus chapters or special editions. Some may sell full chapters or volumes directly. Some may test different prices over time. And honestly, that is okay.

Pricing does not have to be permanent. It can change as your audience grows, your work improves and you better understand what feels fair for both you and your readers.

I think the most important thing is this: Charging for your comic does not make it less genuine. Wanting to earn money from your work does not mean you love it less. Trying to live from your art is not selfish.

It is okay to create out of passion and still want your work to be valued.

So maybe the real question is not only:

“How much would people pay for this?”

But also:

“What price would make me feel respected as a creator?”

Curious to hear from other comic creators: how do you decide the price of your work?

What we’re currently working on at Reapho

We’re currently working on several important updates for Reapho:

Terms of Use

We’re creating our official Terms of Use to make sure everything is clear, transparent and safe for both creators and readers. This takes time because it involves legal requirements, different countries and guidance from lawyers.

Homepage
We’re building a proper homepage for the website, where creators and readers will be able to discover and view other works on Reapho.

New Visual Identity
Our designers are working on a new visual direction for Reapho, including updated colors, a brand new logo and even a new mascot. Yes, really. Now the question is: what will their name be? We’re also improving the platform’s overall look and feel to make everything more polished and memorable.

New Landing Page
We’re also preparing a new, optimized landing page focused on Prime Author applications, making the process clearer and easier for new creators.

Feedback-Based Improvements
Our devs are continuing to work on fixes, changes and improvements based on the feedback we’ve received from creators.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes and every update is part of making Reapho clearer, safer and better for everyone.

Any questions or suggestions?
Feel free to share them with us.

What would make you post your comic on a new platform?

We’re building Reapho, a new platform for comic creators and we’d love to hear from comic creators directly.

We already have some creators with us, but we’re still at an early stage and want to better understand what would make more creators feel interested in joining a new platform.

If you already post your comic on places like Webtoon, Tapas, GlobalComix, social media or your own website, what would make you consider posting it somewhere new too?

Would it be more visibility, better monetization, easier upload tools, more creative freedom, creator ownership, a stronger community, unique features, or something else?

We’d love to know what actually matters most to you when choosing where to share your work.

We just wrapped up our first Emoji Creator Contest and the results were honestly amazing.

We invited comic creators to turn their characters and stories into emojis, and the community voted for their favorites. The winning emojis are now officially part of the Reapho Discord, used in daily conversations by everyone.

It’s a small thing, but it means a lot. Seeing your own characters become part of how people express themselves is something special.

We’re really grateful to everyone who participated, and we’re already planning more events like this.

Congratulations to all the winners who are now part of our community’s daily reactions.

  • 'shocked' by Artistika
  • 'rage' by Yssa
  • 'ugh' by reptile
  • 'fishgun' by Lolo
  • 'wow' by Lolo
  • 'onfire' by Draco

If you’re a comic creator and this sounds interesting, feel free to join the official Reapho Discord server.

Hey everyone,

You asked for it a lot and it’s finally here: an audio library integrated directly into our platform.

We know that drawing, planning, writing, organizing panels… all of that already takes a ton of time and adding audio shouldn’t feel like another heavy step on top of everything.

So after listening to your feedback and seeing how time-consuming this process can be, we’ve been working on ways to make it simpler and faster.

Here’s what’s new:

Ambient Sound Library

You can now search and add ambient sounds directly inside Reapho, using the freesound.org library.

For now, this feature is focused on ambient sounds, helping you quickly build atmosphere without extra work.

No need to manually upload files anymore. Just find what you need and drop it into your scene.

Audio Copyright Information

You can now add proper credits and copyright details to your audio uploads.

This helps ensure correct usage and gives creators the recognition they deserve.

Our goal is simple:
Make adding sound feel natural, not like extra work.

We’re still improving everything based on what you tell us, so keep the feedback coming. It really does shape what we build next.

If you’re not part of it yet, come join us as a Prime Author and help us shape the platform with your feedback 💚
