Struggling with a rickenbacker in the mix, do I go j or p bass?

Hello, I write and record my songs playing the guitar, bass, and drums for it. I currently have a rickenbacker that I adore but it is fighting my guitar rig for some of the same frequencies since my guitar amp is heavy on the low mids. I love the rick and yeah I definitely could figure out a way to get more low end out of it but I am long overdue for another bass anyway and who doesn't love the excuse to buy more gear lol. I know p basses are legendary for sitting in the mix beautifully but I prefer the feel and looks of a jazz bass. Just wondering if anyone has experience with how a jazz bass sits in a mix with lots of heavy guitar layers (think like smashing pumpkins or hum).
