Ontario government kills FOI for public disclosure

Today very early in the morning the Ford government passed a bill that shields the Premier, cabinet ministers, and their offices from FOI (freedom of information) inquiries from all government records, emails, and communications. This is obvious retaliation for the Global News request to obtain his cellphone records. This retroactively applies, effectively erasing all accountability going back to 1988 from information requests, disclosure orders, and even court decisions.

This is not just about stopping ford from zoning the greenbelt to his developer buddies.

This decision to end Freedom of Information while Ontarians sleep infringes on our right to obtain information on issues of public importance.

As of now, there is no formal petition since this literally just happened, but there is word of a protest.
