I just had to unexpectedly put one of my cresties to sleep. After several exotic vet visits and diagnostics (bloodwork, X-rays, etc) it was determined that my little guy was fighting some type of internal infection with little hope that he would recover. I’m devastated by his loss and I don’t know what to do with his enclosure.
I don’t plan on getting any more reptiles in the near future but I would like to reuse some of the decor in my other gecko enclosures. Is that a safe option? I was planning on washing the silk plants with hot water and soap and baking the wood in the oven. Should I be worried that the infection that killed my gecko could spread to the others via the decor even after sanitizing? I’d hate to throw out everything because It could be reused. I’ll be asking my vets opinion as well but wanted to see what others have done.
