Does anyone ever regret Botox treatment?

You guys. I have anxietieesssss. My Botox procedure is booked for the first week of May. For as long as I can remember, I’ve never been able to burp, aside from the extremely elusive micro burp here and there that I never saw coming.

Not being able to burp is all I’ve ever known and I know this is silly, but has anyone ever been treated and regretted it? (Other than people who the treatment didn’t work for. I can totally understand why that would be disappointing and they might wish they hadn’t bothered.)

It just seems like a LOT to go through. My doctor doesn’t do the shots externally through the throat exterior and has me scheduled for a “SUSPENSION MICROLARYNGOSCOPY WITH ESOPHAGOSCOPY AND CRICOPHARYNGEUS BOTOX INJECTION” which involves being put under full general anesthesia in an operating room, and I believe she even mentioned being intubated?

She says that this method is safer and has a higher success rate than the exterior entry injections and that it could be all done at once instead of having to do one side and then come back to do the other at a second appointment for safety reasons.

I will say that I definitely like the idea of just getting it over with and being able to move on with my life AND entering the “frat kid who burps the ABCs at family dinner just because they can” stage of my life at the ripe old (very mature) age of 43 - because you can bet that’s the first party trick I’m gonna want to learn. But wow it’s a lot to put your body through just so your throat stops making embarrassing sounds. Especially when others have had successful far less invasive procedures. I’ve never been under real anesthesia before or had any reason to be intubated.

Is this really all going to be worth it? Yeah, it’s uncomfortable and annoying and the noises are embarrassing, but what if I actually hate burping? It’s not like you can undo this once it’s done. Or what if this changes the way things in my digestive system work in a way that I’m not anticipating? What if my throat or vocal cords get injured in the process?

Does anyone out there hate the way being able to burp has changed their life?
