French cleat wall done!

First time making French cleats, want to make an accent wall in the bedroom and make cat scratchers, beds etc. So both functional and pleasing on the eyes. Original plan was danish oil, and wax. While testing and practicing with it tried burning and liked the results.

Cut, sanded 80>120>220, burn, wood conditioner, dark walnut danish oil, clear and black furniture wax. Used 2.5 inch #8 construction screws t25 (hope that was right)

Overall pleased with how it turned out. Got a better more accurate stud finder halfway through so that is also why the screw pattern is janky as hell.

First "real" project? Kayak cart and curtain rod boards only before this.

Next is some shelving but then onto the bedroom wall of cleats and cat shelves!

That's really it. I saw the regular 4 ah 2pack and charger for $99 then saw for $50 more got a fan. Cool 👍 just a home diyer these days but this thing is convenient!

So i am taking 3/4 pine plywood and making French cleats inside our bedroom as an accent wall and plat to build and hang cat trees, shelves houses etc. So they will be functional and pleasent on the eyes as well.

I used some of the wood and been practicing using danish oil and furniture wax to finish the ply wood. Photo example of curtain rod board that I made.

My process for this was as follows: prepping with 80>120>220 sand paper clean and wipe with tack cloth, lightly burn with torch, wipe with stiff brush as needed, wood conditioner, danish oil dark walnut, clear wax followed by black furniture wax.

Any issues with method, or process? I am also adding cleats to my garage as practice for making cleats and practicing with finishes so that when I start the bedroom hopefully works out well.

Even if I am doing something wrong this had been a ton of fun practicing and trying at least.

If more details are needed my bad.
