Testing Veo 3.1 Lite

The Prompt: man smiles at camera

I ran this prompt in batches of 4. I also tried the prompt 'man performs backflip in grassy field', which yielded only 3/16 generations, and the physics were terrible in the few generations it made (slow action, morphing, etc.)

I tested Lite earlier and was disappointed with the results. This was my first free moment after losing unlimited 3.1 Fast low priority gens (Ultra) to test Lite again. This is a trainwreck. I can only hope that the service is this bad because they are preparing for the release of Omni or Veo 4 (or 3.2, or 3.5, or whatever). But if they think this is acceptable for users on their highest paid tier at any time, under any circumstances, then maybe we should temper our expectations for Google video gen moving forward...

High hopes for Google I/O?

I'm trying to look at this optimistically... I'm starting to get high hopes for Google I/O, based on past patterns with their services. It seems right before big releases, Google's current AI services get seriously degraded. Currently, Gemini and Google Flow are borderline unusable. That must mean something really great is on the way, right?

Has anyone else noticed that Veo 3.1 Fast has gotten a lot worse lately? Could they have nerfed it so that people will look on Lite more favorably, in advance of losing zero credit Fast Low Priority generations on Ultra? Or is it just my imagination?
