Reminder today Sat may 9th 2026 is stamp put hunger day

If you wish to donate non-perishable nutritious food leave it out by your mailbox to be collected by your postal carrier today. The post office supplied yellow bags earlier this week, but because of the rain I put my donations in a plastic bag that I tied and then tied the yellow bag to it. the food goes to local food banks.

Where are the tortoises?

I know it has been cooler, but normally this time of year on m daily walks I will see 4-5 turtles/tortoises making their way across drive ways. I haven't seen any so far and no ducks on the Housatonic as I walk by it. Wildly, no bears, foxes or rabbits either. I usually view a fox at night a couple times a week on my camera, and a bear usually once a week

Either God is having a bout of dandruff or we had some very light snow flurries. I needed a second take and then looked at the temp it was 33 degrees. Obviously it disappeared quickly as the temp rose to a blamy 35.

New pbllm05 18 volt mower a comments and questions.

I purchased the new 18 volt self propelled Ryobi mower to as a replacement mower. I love the mower. It is light and maneuverable. Maybe because it is so light I find that mowing my slightly hilly lawn less tiring than with my old heavier older mower and I feel I am more in control of the mower. It does a great job of cutting the grass evenly with no high spots. Setup was a breeze. Basically peel off all the taped parts, charge the batteries, and extend the handle. And they were on sale at home depot and you get a second 18 volt tool of your choice free. Plus the Mass green initiative (MassSave rebate of $75) it was a no brainer for me.

There are a few things that could at least in my opinion be improved. Runtime was slightly less than I expected with the 2 6a batteries that came with it. Not a big problem because I am buying 2 additional batteries. Will 8a batteries give me a longer runtime? Second, the speed control is too sensitive, so I left it on the minimum setting. Also not a big issue for me though a younger person might want to walk faster than this 70 year old and might want finer control of the speed. My third criticism is that the naming convention is to me very confusing when looking for accessories like keys. I am trying to figure out what I need to buy for a spare key. I don't expect to lose it, but life happens. None of the compatibility specs on Amazon lists my specific mower model. I cannot figure out which of the 6 or so Ryobi 40 volt keys on Amazon will fit this specific mower.

So my questions are which key on Amazon fits this mower? Will an 8a battery improve runtime as I think the higher capacity will? Thank you to anyone who might be able to answer these questions.

I have to buy a new mower every year because of various problems. Unfortunately there are 6 ego sellers in my area, but not one offers service. Ego wants me to drive to the next state two hours away to bring it to an authorized service center and at my age that is just not in the cards. Two of the mowers exhibit the same issue. The battery is fully charged and green. I go to start the mower (handles fully extended and locked) the battery will propel the mower, but it will begin to start and instantly die. I can't actually mow the lawn. I spend an hour or so removing one battery, pushing the handles down and re-engagIng them, etc. Sometimes after a while it will start. Unfortunately in my seventies this is very tiring. The third mower has a mechanical issue with the self drive. It mows but only as a push mower. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try? I bought a new battery and charger last year. Maybe I am just unlucky. Any help would be appreciated.

I thought I would start a discussion of gardening here in the Berkshires. We have so many new residents and gardens big and small are popular here.

It has been awhile since I posted on the health of the Pittsfield subreddit. We average between 700 and 1000 unique visits a day. We are up to approximately 1,300 members. Again, thanks to everyone for contributing to the discussion and for the growth we have seen in the last year. As always, please email me with any suggestions for making this subreddit better and more useful. The area I have had the least success with is that although I have reached out to cultural and community organizations asking them to post directly about their activities and events, I have not had any takers. As I become aware of activities/events, I try to post the information, as should others. If you are involved with such organizations, it would be great if you could have those discussions.
