How do you bring back your focus? How do you prolong your attention span?
I used to be able to sustain my focus while studying. I could even memorize tons of mnemonics and a book chapter in one sitting back then. However, the pandemic hit (I caught COVID-19 years back, which I don't know if its brain fog effect is scientifically proven already or what) and there has been a rise in the produced short-form content (like IG reels).
My attention span has also gotten worse. I could no longer watch videos of more than 5-10 minutes. It's either I skip some parts or I adjust it twice its speed. This is definitely not helpful for someone studying in a university where professors hand down 1- to 7-hour long lecture videos.
I tried researching on this—consuming coffee, putting my devices on "Do Not Disturb", listening to Lofi, and Pomodoro technique are among the "techniques" that do not work for me.
But, I think that's what consuming too many short-form content and doomscrolling does to a person. It really is brain rot. I sometimes end up envious of those who could focus for hours, or maybe hyperfixate on studying.
I need practical advice! Please share your experience or any strategies that work for you.
