a cardinal chased three wrens away

approaching fast about midday

red bird preferred to feed alone

so broke apart their feathered fray

two starlings perched in afternoon

and soon began a sweetheart tune

love song so dear it broke my heart

of long goodbyes and warm regards

a waxwing came as evening fell

with invocations, mystic spells

magic only waxwings know

to mark another days farewell
