Hey everyone,

I’m an international student in Canada and I’m trying to figure out if my situation would qualify for a work permit based on financial hardship.

Here’s my situation:

1)My father was fully supporting my tuition and living expenses since I came to Canada

2. I have bank statements showing consistent financial support from him in the past

3)Unfortunately, his business has recently shut down completely

4. He has had no income for the past ~3 months

I also have:

a)His current bank statements showing no income

b)An affidavit from him stating he can no longer support me

c)A CA affidavit confirming the business has shut down and has no revenue

On my side:

I’m currently working part-time (within legal limits)

I have my own bank statement

I’m still enrolled full-time in my program

Because of this, I’m struggling to cover my living expenses and considering applying for a work permit due to financial hardship.

My questions:

1. Does this situation usually qualify for a destitute / financial hardship work permit?

2. Has anyone here applied with a similar case and got approved?

3. Is there anything else I should include to strengthen my application?
