I tested static posts vs reels for 2 weeks and the results were backwards

I decided to test static posts vs reels because everyone says reels are the only thing that gets reach anymore

Week 1: Posted only reels. Average reach was around 14k per post, decent engagement, people watching but not a ton of saves

Week 2: Posted only static carousel posts. Average reach dropped to 6k per post BUT the engagement quality was way different. Way more saves, longer time spent on post, more detailed comments

So reels got me more eyeballs but carousels got me more valuable engagement. The people who stopped for carousels actually cared about the content, the people scrolling reels were more passive

Then I looked at which format was actually driving DMs and profile visits and it was overwhelmingly the carousels. Even though they had half the reach they were bringing in more serious engagement

Now I'm trying https://rupa.pro/ to figure out if I should keep doing reels for growth and reach, or focus on carousels for quality audience building. They seem to do completely different things

I've been trying to figure out which content format actually leads to the type of engagement that matters long term and honestly carousels seem underrated right now

Has anyone else tested this? Are you prioritizing reach with reels or quality engagement with carousels?
