Games where I can be this guy

No I don’t mean shooting lasers from your eyes, or being a superhero (though I’m not necessarily against that part), I mean being the fucking *man* (gn).

I want to play as *the* leader. The one who everyone turns to when shit hits the fan, the one who can come up with a million different plans on the fly. The one who brings hope to their people just by being there.

So many royal ifs put you in positions of power, but not a lot of them really make you feel like it. You often feel like a puppet at the whims of everyone else instead of the one in charge, and it’s a little disappointing.

The only one I’ve really played that’s come close to scratching this itch is I the Forgotten One and ZE: Safe Haven. I’ll update the list more if I can think of any else.

(Spoilers for Ch 5 of Infamous) About G and Blake

This theory has probably been made already, but Blake definitely wrote all of G’s music, right? Like that would explain so much. They went to the same music school growing up, they were super close, and now can’t stand each other. They were probably a singer/songwriter duo like MC/the Band, but once G got discovered, they left Blake out to dry.

This could explain why G’s so hostile, because they know if Blake does decide to ever come clean their career would be cooked. It also explains why Blake is so smug despite being a supposedly terrible lyricist. Speaking of lyrics, it would also give Blake’s songwriting an added layer. They’re actually a terrific lyricist, but they write shitty lyrics on purpose as a sort of Fuck You to G.

Furthermore, this would also tie into the Fame vs Integrity themes that have been so prevalent throughout the game. G and Blake are parallels to MC/Seven/The Band. We know MC will have the opportunity to go solo in the future and screw over their band. It will be up to the player if MC ends up like G, or if they choose a better way and stay true to their friends.

Admittedly this is all speculation and I could be completely wrong. I haven’t even played G or Blake’s routes either, this is just stuff I picked up from context clues. If there’s anything in their routes that does contradict this theory, feel free to let me know lol

This series gets a *ton* of shit for being a nothingburger with no consequences, and to that I say: yeah, so what?

It’s not illegal for a story to be easygoing and light. Not every story has to be constant tension or high stakes. What’s wrong with Dick just living his best life? If you say you’re a fan of his, wouldn’t you want that for him anyways? He definitely earned it after all that Ric Grayson bs.

Maybe I’m just burnt out because of Spider-Man and Batman, but I’m tired of superheroes being miserable. I’m tired of the constant drama and conflict 24/7. Sometimes just seeing your favs excel and be happy can be good. People hate this series but I think it’s a breath of fresh air and I’m glad it exists.

EDIT: This post wasn’t me karma farming, I swear I was legitimately asking. I know commercially and critically it was praised, but most online discussions I’ve seen about this run have been negative, hence why I made the post.
