UIC vs DePaul vs Loyola for premed
Thought I’d finally make my own post since I’m rly rly stuck on where I should go to college… originally DePaul was going to be my choice but I’ve been hearing pretty negative stuff from alumni of my high school who chose to go there for premed and now also pretty worried about the quarter system… my major is neuroscience btw
Also, I got into the pathways program but some are advising me it’s not as big of a deal as it used to be since I’d still have to take the mcat and schools like uic and Loyola are better for pre med
DEPAUL
- pathways program
- smaller classes — so more a of a college ‘community’
- such a close price for me to uic
- private school
- quarter system sounds like hell when will I find time to do clinical hours and such
-not r1 research like the other two
UIC
- less commute for me than DePaul
-technically cheaper but so close to DePaul
- big classes
-heard the counseling was actually pretty good premed
Loyola
- nice campus and I would live there not commute
- more expensive
-good premed focus generally but horrible chem department apparently?
- most prestigious
All of them also have a med school with them so I’m really torn… the bad feedback about DePaul really made me rethink since I was basically set about going there…
Would love to hear some other experiences or opinions!
