Shipped my white noise app on iOS two weeks ago, now live on Android too!

Veil is a white noise + sleep sounds app I built because every sleep app I tried plays a 30-second recording on a loop, crashes, or is overpriced. I shipped on iOS two weeks ago and the early reception has been really positive (18 reviews so far, all 5 stars), so now I'm bringing it to Android!

THE DIFFERENCE: Zero audio files in the app. Every sound is synthesized live on your device through the Web Audio API, so it's truly infinite and never repeats. This is the thing every review of hardware noise machines praises them for, and no app has really delivered it until now.

CORE FEATURES:

  • White, pink, brown noise (all free)
  • Five fan variants: slow, medium, fast, box fan, ceiling fan
  • Mechanical sounds: window AC, central AC, airplane cabin, clothes dryer, vacuum, shower
  • 3-sound mixer with saved presets
  • Sleep timer with fade-out (15s, 30s, 1min, 2min)
  • Precision volume (continuous drag, not a 10-step slider)
  • Per-sound tone shaping (treble, cutoff, more)
  • Fully offline, no account, no cloud, no data collection
  • Background audio + lock screen controls work properly
  • Dark mode only, built for adults not babies

PRICING: $4.99 one-time unlock. No subscription, ever. Pay once, own forever. Free tier includes white/pink/brown + slow fan (with a small banner ad).

Android is brand new this week, so I'd love honest feedback, especially on Android-specific stuff (weird OEM issues, battery drain during long sessions, lock screen controls). Also open to sound requests, what sound would you add?

White noise app, no loops, no subscription. Honest thoughts?

Launched Veil on iOS just last week. Android is pending Play Store approval, should be live in a few days.

It's a white noise and sleep sounds app. The problem with every other app in this space: once you hear the loop restart, you can't unhear it. Veil doesn't use audio files. Every sound is generated live on your phone, so it never repeats. I struggled with other apps in the space crashing, being ad bloated, and having dated UIs, so I decided to take it into my own hands!

Has white/pink/brown noise, a bunch of fans (slow, box, ceiling), AC, airplane cabin, dryer, shower. Each sound is individually tunable: treble blend, low-pass cutoff, speed, level. Sleep timer with fade-out, mixer for layering up to 3 sounds, precision volume.

Free with ads. $4.99 one-time unlock. No subscription.

Would love feedback on:

  • The App Store listing (first impression, screenshots)
  • Whether "no loops" lands or sounds too technical
  • Pricing: is $4.99 one-time right, or am I leaving money on the table?
  • And if you're up for giving the app a download, would love feedback on the app itself!

Veil - I built a noise app that generates every sound from scratch, no recordings, no loops

what it is: I'm an engineer who couldn't find a noise app that didn't loop a short audio clip, so I built one that generates every sound from scratch in real-time. Veil does white, pink, brown noise, fan sounds, and mixing with no audio files anywhere in the app.

who it's for: anyone who sleeps with noise on, uses sound to focus, or masks tinnitus. if you've ever been woken up by a subtle repeat in a noise app or a LectroFan, this is for you.

what I need help with: real feedback. does the sound quality hold up? does the no-loop thing matter or am I overthinking it? what sounds would you want next?
