Mock Analysis Link

Edit:

This community has helped me a lot while prepping for GATE CS. It's my time to give back to the community!

Edit 2:

Some random ahh tips:
- Bucket your subjects (Programming, Systems, Maths, Misc.)
- Bucket your attempts (Sure-Shot, 50-50, random guess)
- Analyze mocks, exactly know from which topic or which bucket you're bleeding marks
- Try to control the bleed, don't over attempt
- Don't take mocks too seriously, focus more on PYQs.
- Mocks are deliberately lengthier, harder and have more edge cases, to make you resilient against difficult papers.
- Prioritise Consistent patterns over Edge cases, Consistent patters are 95% of the paper
- Only go after aptitude if you're weak, else pyqs are more than enough.. i mean most of the students don't remember 8th std geometry..
- Don't pay for anything unless you can't get it for free
- Your own-notes are not a 100% necessary, there are handwritten notes on GitHub, if you're comfortable wjth those, you don't need your own.
- You can't complete 100% syllabus
- Focus on Converting your strong subjects to have 90%+ accuracy, and try to have over 30-40% accuracy in your weaker subjects..
- Always attempt MSQs for subjects you don't know if you have time
- Not every question in the exam was made to attempt, some were deliberately designed to ruin your confidence and waste your time
- Don't get too personally attached with a question, I mean its not your girlfriend, leave it if you can't solve it..
- MSQs are sometimes designed to have all 4 options to be correct or to have only 1 correct. Have proper reasoning before you eliminate or select an option.

COAP Round 1 Update!!

Part 1 is in the link..

So I've decided to go for IIT Bombay, I have accepted and froze that option.. A TLDR is provided at the end.

Since I already got IISc in the first round itself, and COAP gives priority as per the order you filled your forms in, and IISc deadline was before even others started their application portals.. which means I wont be getting another offer from an institute for which I'd filled form after this..

Also for anyone wondering why IIT Bombay over Madras and IISc BLR, I'd like to answer this, for anyone interested continue reading this..

So IIT Bombay has better exposure compared to Madras and BLR, both are excellent and top research institutes and it might be considered a dumb move if you pursued placements after going to those institutes..

IIT Bombay has a better balance of placements and research so if my future self wanted to go for research instead of placements, he'd be able to pursue the same easily..

And the fests are at a different level entirely, and not only from an entertainment purpose, but also from an exposure and networking purpose.. many employees from giant companies participate in flagship events like robo-wars, with just the right amount of confidence, skill and networking, you might land an internship..

Plus the hostels are great from what i've seen, (best hostel is in IISc, won't even lie), and it's in mainland city, so transportation is easier.

=========================================

PS:- I dont want this post to be political, please refrain from using casteist slurs like a few of you did in the last post. You don't want to be political and casteist with me. I'm the first one to hold a bachelors degree in my entire family, even distant family. You don't know the struggle my parents and I have faced. You don't get the right to call reservation unfair. Neither one of my cousins even is serious about education, since good education is inaccessible to them. My parents have taken loans just for me to be able to complete my education. I've heard these slurs my entire life, you don't even bother me. It's a waste of my time even scrolling and downvoting your comment. Your hate against SC/ST is manufactured by your surroundings. You don't even understand the depth of this, just have heard certain narrations. Kindly refrain from this.

=========================================

TLDR;

- Selected IIT Bombay
- Placements Better
- One of the best branding
- Best employability
- Potential for Research in Future (PhD. and post doc)
- Fests lead to better exposure and networking.

=========================================

PS:- I have a very bad eye infection (conjuctivitis) so, most of the screen is blur for me, and yeah, to all those waiting for my reply, i'll do the same just give me some time to recover, i understand you're very anxious, and each and everyone of you got this!

COAP Round 1

I was hoping to get IIT Delhi, but didn't get that, got these offers instead..

Now i'm confused which to retain? My final choice of institute is IIT Delhi.. due to vicinity and easy of travel..

Which one do you recommend, and also suggest me if I am doing anything wrong by picking Delhi over Bombay and Bangalore..

Really need your suggestions!
