Got a SMARTS-UP scholarship but was denied admission to the program… really confused
Hey everyone,
I applied to a Master’s program in Economics and Psychology in Paris through the Études en France (EEF) portal. I had also applied to the SMARTS UP Scholarship which is given by University of Paris Cite. Recently, I received an official email saying I’ve been selected for the SMARTS-UP Fellowship for 2026–2027.
However, here’s the issue is my EEF portal shows that I have been denied admission to the program.
At the same time, the scholarship email clearly mentions my program and I’ve already accepted the scholarship (there was a deadline)
I’m in a very confusing situation.
How is it possible to receive a program-specific scholarship but be denied admission?
Has anyone experienced a situation where the rejection was later reversed?
From what I understand, admissions and funding are handled separately, but this feels like a major contradiction.
Would really appreciate any insights, especially from people familiar with SMARTS-UP.
