Train conductors on passenger trains (like Amtrak)

Hi folks,

I'm a children's author researching a children's book on what train conductors do. I've ridden Amtrak many times, and I've also done some googling, but I would love to hear from actual conductors about their jobs. I mean, I know they take tickets, enforce rules, make announcements, help passengers in need, open the doors and lower the steps when needed, etc., but I gather there is much more to the job than that. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Losing too much weight??

For context, I have been T2 for about eight years, maintaining A1c with Metformin, diet and exercise. After my husband died, I started eating whatever made me feel better, like cake and pudding and pasta, etc. I was still not overweight but my A1c went up. So we started Bydureon and now Mounjaro.

The Mounjaro (started at 2.5, now at 5) has had the desired affect of keeping my blood sugar down and steadier, but I am losing too much weight, I think. I was about 157 and now am 144 and all my pants are too big. And I am never hungry. Most food gives me the ick and I definitely don't feel like cooking or going out. If I do eat, I only eat about half of a serving. When I do want to eat, it is still carbs. Not necessarily sweet things, but say an English muffin.

I realize these outcomes are desirable for a lot of people, but I don't know how to balance things out. Should I just force myself to eat even though it makes me feel sick?

I should add that I am also depressed and anxious. I am seeing my doctor on Friday. I just needed to talk to people who might understand before then. Thank you in advance.

▲ 38 r/Choir

When I was in high school in the early 80s, the top choir in most area high schools was Madrigals. Sometimes they were called Madrigals but sang various types of music, but a lot of the time, the group dressed in Renaissance costumes, sang mostly Renaissance madrigals, and had a yearly madrigal dinner.

Was this a regional thing or nationwide (speaking of US here)? Do schools still have madrigal groups? (None of them where I live now). What replaced them? Show choir? When did that happen?

Thinking of this because my choir is prepping for a concert that includes three classic madrigals (Maying, Matona Mia Cara, Il est bel) but also two of Lauridsen's Madrigali (Six Fire Songs).
