the option to pre-download streamed assets, dx11, and hardware raytracing have all been removed recently, with hardware rt being the only one to get a semi-substitute, (with lumen now automatically utilizing it, albeit at a noticeable graphical downgrade,) and i really just can't wrap my head around the reasoning for these changes

i know that a lot of people on older hardware, me included, have suffered pretty severe performance losses because of these changes, and epic doesn't really seem keen on providing an alternative, or even communicating the reason on why they removed these seemingly harmless, completely optional settings in the first place
