Just got this 05 I have a few questions for some maintenance/accessories
Very happy with this GX470 I just got. After driving new cars for my past few vehicles, decided I wanted to get something to keep forever as a reliable and comfortable vehicle. After doing some research the 4.7 and comfortable ride of the GX seemed like the only option that made sense. Has a little over 260k miles but seems to be well taken care of and in good shape for the age/miles.
I guess the most important question, the timing belt. Looking it over, does not look like it is old by any means, but cannot confirm when it was last done. Struggling to find any record of it. So, I am thinking I will replace that to be safe, but figured I’d check to see if anyone has a suggestion on any other ways to try to confirm when it was last done.
The only other mechanical question on the vehicle is the cluster. Sometimes the gas and temp gauge works and sometimes they don’t. From what I have found googling it sounds like it likely is fixable and is better than replacing the cluster. Going to talk to a local shop that does cluster repairs, but figured I’d see if anyone has had a similar experience.
Thinking I want to put some metal bumpers on the front and back. Definitely want something solid but nothing super big/bulky. Any suggestions?
I have also seen an Auxiliary fuel tank. Not something I am sure I will do but seems like that could be cool to have for road trips. So, wondering if anyone has had any experience with putting that in/if it felt like it was worth the work/cost.
Weighing my options for something to use to hold my phone when I need to use gps. Trying to avoid the vents and windshield. Any set up that fits that you have had success with?
Other than that, just planning on putting the OEM grill back in, touching up some paint chips on the hood, and getting an estimate for a pdr guy for a dent. So let me know if I am missing anything else that maybe important or nice. Thanks!
