I’ve already come to the conclusion that this is a scam but it is baffling to me. (OP in comments, she also made commenting on the post limited)

For context, I am Facebook friends with an old coworker from about six years ago, which is why I thought this was reputable, but essentially she made the following post having an almost an estate sale listing vehicles at very low prices, and at the time it made sense because if her uncle has passed or is going into a nursing home or whatever maybe they need the money to make that transition?

But it is so odd and why would she be requesting a deposit? (The deposit is 1k) Am I being overly cautious or is this definitely a scam?

Maybe her account was hacked?
